The Department of Defense (DoD) spent more than a half a million dollars on the male enhancement drug Viagra last year, according to government contracts.

The Pentagon issued 60 contracts worth$504,816 for the drug in 2014. All 60 contracts were awarded to Cardinal Health Inc., a pharmaceutical distribution company based in Dublin, Ohio.

Last year DoD also ordered $3,505 worth of Levitra, and $14,540 of Cialis, other popular erectile dysfunction drugs.

The contracts were filed under "Troop Support."

1. It's kind of strange that the MILITARY would need Viagra. (rim shot)
2. Don't our soldiers have enough heavy dangerous gear to carry into battle without the extra ten pounds of wood? (rim shot)

The real question is how much more Congress spent on them...

Troop support, I hope they mean they are prescribing it to vets that are having issues and cant perform once theyre home. If thats what its used for I have no problem with it whatsoever.

Many combat vets sometimes come home to wives and girlfriends and cant perform until they have time to push things down and get a grip.

I did not mean to imply that it was safe to use in a recreational manner or that anyone should. Simply that it happens a lot and some of these soldiers may be looking to spice things up vs. a real inability to preform
