Obamacare more expensive (http://www.bloombergview.com/articles/2015-02-11/yep-obamacare-costs-a-fortune)
Subsidies aside, people are paying more out of pocket expenses with Obamacare than the prior employee based plans.
That would be good if premiums were not so high. The new system if getting you at both ends.
Whenever I write about Obamacare's expansion of health insurance (http://www.bloombergview.com/articles/2014-12-02/obamacare-isnt-driving-up-health-costs-really), most of the e-mails I get from readers include some version of: Sure, the premiums may be low, but who can afford to see a doctor?
A survey released today by the Kaiser Family Foundation, tracking 2015 deductibles and copayments across most exchange plans (http://kff.org/health-costs/issue-brief/the-cost-of-care-with-marketplace-coverage/), says those complaints are at least half right. For all but the most generous Obamacare plans, out-of-pocket payments are usually higher than for employer-based insurance (http://files.kff.org/attachment/2014-employer-health-benefits-survey-full-report) -- in some cases, drastically so.
