Last November (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/feb/14/obama-vows-squeeze-every-last-little-bit-change-ou/) should have told Obama that his last two years are pretty much over, but no, he wants more hope and change.

President Obama on Friday night returned to his core 2008 themes of hope and change, telling Democratic party loyalists that he intends to challenge “cynical politics” during his final two years office.

Speaking at a party fundraiser in San Francisco (http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/san-francisco/), the president blamed Democrats’ poor showing in the November midterm elections on voter apathy driven by frustration and anger with government. He said low turnout largely is to blame for the GOP gaining seats in the House and capturing control of the Senate.

But Mr. Obama said he still has two years in office and intends to use that time to strengthen Americans’ faith in Washington.

Why not try to strengthen American's faith in themselves?

Congress would likely pass a lot now that Dems no longer control the Senate. He has to sign the legislation and not veto it.

His unwillingness to compromise led to the Tea Party surge. If the man would have just been a fair leader and involved everyone respectfully on HC (which set the tone) he wouldn't be having this many issues now. He had the procedure in place to pass it and could have gotten some help but chose to ram it down everyone's throat. His lack of humbleness and arrogance motivated many people to come out against him across the country. It had nothing to do with race it has to do with a complete failure of leadership and basic pettiness.

The O'bama has been a massive failure to his constituents and has become a leper pariah to the Democratic party.

His sole role at this point is damage control, to keep the Republicans from over-running representation.

That's his only role from this point out, everything he does, every decision, statement is going to have this as the core of the issue.

He really just has to do nothing...unlike the new repub majority that has promises to keep.

He's going to make all these outrageous proposals, free education, lower taxes on poor people, higher taxes on rich people, all of it amounting to a hill of shit that will never happen in order to make Republicans look like obstructionists and make Democrats look like they're being stalled.

I think his self imposed marching orders are more than that, although you comments are noted and may be apart.

1. He has spin'd the story a bit on the elections. He wants to act as though the mistake was running away from him after-all he was elected twice! He doesn't get it imo. Yes he was elected twice, but most everyone is elected twice. It is really hard to defeat an existing president, really hard. I knew he would be elected the first time (whomever won the primary would be the next president period! No Republican was gonna win). The anti war crowd killed the war party as America was tired of war and the housing bubble caught up to us all. The perfect storm.

2. He wants someone to get the nominee that won't throw him under the bus. He wants his policies continued, especially his foreign policy. He believes in it and doesn't want to see it damaged. But no president can stay that course, its a mess. He will push for Warren or Biden because they are clones / puppets.

I think these two things are extremely important to him.

2016 should be the year of the GOP...it's their choice what happens. Americans like to change parties every 8 years unless the party waiting in the wings shoots themselves in the foot. Obama is the albatross around the neck of the dems....

I think you're right. It's all about him. Forget this country, We the People, our foreign policies, our values, our culture. It's about what he wants.

He won't really have to work that hard to make that happen. The Republicans, being obstructionists for 6 years, have most likely forgotten how to govern. I doubt their memories will recover in the next two years. Sadly, either will the American public's collective memory.
