Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, has married her longtime partner, Heather Poe. The couple, who live together in Virginia and have two children, were married Friday morning in Washington, D.C., according to the Daily Caller, a news site co-founded by Neil Patel, a former adviser to the former vice president. "Mary and Heather have been in a committed relationship for many years, and we are delighted that they were able to take advantage of the opportunity to have that relationship recognized," the Cheney family said in a statement. "Mary and Heather and their children are very important and much loved members of our family and we wish them every happiness."

Guess that proves that republicans aren't homophobes.

So with this generalization, obviously the Cheney family represents your average Republican family.

Actually, he loves his daughter, is very supportive, and I'm sure he is happy for her.

That seems to bother you.

I'm all for gay marriage. Half the graduating lawyers couldn't find jobs this year. Mercedes sales are dropping. Courts are cracking down on ambulance chasers. The legal slimebag industry, most of whom are liberals and the group is one of the top three contributors to the Democrats, need help. This would definitely help.

Soon after New York passed the Marriage Equality Act on June 24 last year, Katie Marks and Dese’Rae Stage (http://deseraestage.com/blog/) began planning their wedding day. A licensed masseuse and a photographer (http://weareforeachother.com/), both 28, the couple had been dating since 2008 and were already planning to get married — in Boston over the Memorial Day weekend of 2012 — but the euphoria of the moment moved everything forward. “It was kind of one of those things, to be a part of history,” Des says. On July 30, the first Saturday that gay marriages could be performed in New York City, Katie in a magenta dress and Des in skinny jeans and pink Chuck Taylors joined 23 other couples at the Pop Up Chapel (http://popupchapel.com/), a one-day wedding event in Central Park, as part of New York City’s first wave of legally married gay couples. By January, though, things had started to come apart. Des and Katie have since separated and moved out of their Washington Heights apartment. They're now one of the first married gay couples — if not the very first — in New York to divorce. “I feel like I’m the president of the loneliest club in the world,” Des says. “I was the first gay person in my group of friends to marry, and now I’m the only gay divorcée I know.

Gay marriage--another brilliant idea from the left!

Actually no ... I'm happy for both of them, and I'm sure they both learned a lot from each other.

But you didn't say that to begin with. Your OP seems to be just a pot shot at a straw man. That you criticized goldielocks for generalization is at best ironic.

It just goes to show the Conservatives world is getting smaller. :)

More like your imagined straw man of conservatives has just gotten the stuffing knocked out of it.

Gee Cigar, aren't you going to thank me for supporting your lawyers?

Some people have no gratitude.

I assume your bigoted generalization is that all Republicans are homophobes. Me? I'm happy for the Cheney family and wish them all the best. It's sad so many "liberals" have wished them a premature and painful death but that's the nature of liberals. I wonder if Dan Savage has gone over to beat up Dick Cheney's daughter yet.
