While there's an element of truth in what you say, it's still a close issue and one, I suspect, that is heavily laden with politics. The main issue isn't the Keystone pipeline since there are other pipelines, but retaking the White House in 2016.

Eight Democrats voted with Republicans to override Obama: Sens. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Mark Warner (Va.), Claire McCaskill (Mo.), Bob Casey Jr. (Pa.), Michael Bennet (Colo.), Tom Carper (Del.) and Jon Tester (Mont.).Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), who backs the pipeline, missed the vote.
The eight Democrats also voted to approve the $8 billion oil sands project in January. Sixty-seven votes are needed to override a presidential veto.

Our ruling

Jones said the Keystone pipeline will only result in 35 permanent jobs after construction.

The numbers, as reported by the State Department, back him up, though that’s the nature of any big construction project, be it a highway or monument.

Jones’ claim is True.

The 2-3000 jobs are temporary, for one year, until the pipeline is completed. Guess what those folks will be doing afterwards?

Filing for unemployment. :)

How many years does it take to build an interstate highway?

Thing is, it does take years. A relatively small number of men do the work. I have helped on several major highways and am telling you how it really is.

Give you an instance. Take Highway 5 in California. We would pull in with a crew of 5 on the piledriver, plus the foreman plus the superintendent and drive piles to support bridges. A small crew of guys then poured concrete on our work. That was the base of the support for the bridge. About 10 at most guys show up to work on the deck. Guys as needed show up to do the cage work. Cages are inside the concrete decks and inside the bridge footing. When we finished a bridge, we moved to the next one. And this was repeated for those many years.

zelmo1234
03-04-2015, 07:09 PM
Cool if true, and how will that help our crumbling Bumber$#@!?

Well it actually brings more Oil to the world market! That causes the price at the pump to go down.

People have more money and they buy new cars. Those new cars are taxed. So that brings money into the system.

Then there are those that do not need new cars they have more money, so they go on vacation and that means they buy more Gas. That gas is taxed and that gives more money for the roads.

So how does not building the pipeline help those bumpers.

IMO, even .00001% is wrong for something that is for profit and not essential to the "common welfare" like flood control or national security.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamesconca/2014/02/24/foreign-company-tries-to-seize-u-s-land-for-keystone-pipeline/
On Wednesday, a Nebraska judge struck down a state law that would have allowed TransCanada (http://www.forbes.com/companies/transcanada/) TRP +0.86% (http://www.forbes.com/companies/transcanada/) to use the power of eminent domain to seize private land to help construct a short 300-mile segment of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline between Cushing and Steele City, Nebraska.

Most middle class Americans understand an easement to be the side walk that runs in front of their house even though they are held responsible for the grass that grows on either side of it or if someone falls walking on it.

What you are talking about is a swath the size of a tornado cutting through people's land by the force of the US government.

Things to consider when faced with some oil company goon wanting to force his way into your land:
http://api.ning.com/files/Z*S8JENLfNqCgLCXvsB5svurZySls2ntskD*SbCD2bNYBS87KP nKVSTwZk-OoJuuqQReINFEkrWQrKZ1ZT19hYrZse4HnZs7/EricCampsPipeLineNegotiation.pdf

Besides that, we stole our land from the Native Americans, so it is justice for us to lose it.

Maybe the farmers should do like the Ukrainians did, charge a fee based on the amount of material transmitted through the easement.
It would be better than some crumbs for a strip of land under onerous terms in a society where money talks in court far more than Truth, Mercy and Faith......the weightier matters of the Law. (Matthew 23:23)

I know what it says. Do you, as a Lefty, City-living, Liberal Weenie truly comprehend what it means to force people of their land?

Most middle class Americans understand an easement to be the side walk that runs in front of their house even though they are held responsible for the grass that grows on either side of it or if someone falls walking on it.

What you are talking about is a swath the size of a tornado cutting through people's land by the force of the US government.

The thing is Max, Hanger isn't a lefty or Liberal, and plus I've had this exact conversation with him regarding this issue. I don't like the government using eminent domain, because you always get screwed.

Like I said you've got a lot to learn about me and apparently easements. BTW nobodies being forced off their lands.

Generally you'd be correct, but in this case they're being payed and keep ownership of rhe property.

Maybe they are being screwed del but they're being paid for it. The other 90% in Neb. don't seem to think so. And to my knowledge none in other states think so either.

The Senate vote to override President Obama's veto has failed, falling four votes shy. The New Victorious Senate has a Purfect Record  Please proceed Govenor  As Gas Prices continue to rise, who do you think will get the blame?

Indeed, raised two of my own and used those very words more times than I care to remember.

Good thing we won't find out now. Eminent Domain for profit is W-R-O-N-G.
