Tea Party Republicans contemplating a bid to oust Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) shouldn't count on Democrats to help them unseat the Speaker.

And without their support, there is no chance to topple Boehner in this Congress.

A number of right-wing Republicans, long-wary of Boehner's commitment to GOP efforts attacking President Obama's policy priorities, have openly considered a coup in an attempt to transfer the gavel into more conservative hands.

But Democrats from across an ideological spectrum say they'd rather see Boehner remain atop the House than replace him with a more conservative Speaker who would almost certainly be less willing to reach across the aisle in search of compromise. Replacing him with a Tea Party Speaker, they say, would only bring the legislative process — already limping along — to a screeching halt.

Boehner eventually will get pushed out by the right. The democrats would do well to protect him because whoever comes behind him will be far worse for sure

This is indeed an interesting development. It appears to be a Catch-22 type situation in that it was Boehner who invited Netanyahu to Washington, something that did not work out well for the White House. Thus, how ironic a twist that Republicans want Boehner gone but Democrats are actually proposing to help keep him. It will be interesting to see what transpires and whether Republicans can muster the votes needed to oust him and hand the gavel over to another person.

I'm not too impressed with Boehner but ya gotta look at what he has been dealing with. He's been in charge of trying to keep extremists from both sides of the aisle from going completely crazy. Not only is he trying to herd cats, he's trying to herd rabid cats! He doesn't need a gavel, he needs a whip & a chair!
