We are taught to live within our means , accept the consequences of our actions, learn from our mistakes, not use force to get our way and accept life on life's terms. Yet we allow our government to act in a manner that is completely inconsistent with these values. In short, the American people allow the American government to operate completely outside of American values.
As a country, we borrow money to pay the interest on existing debt and have spent more than we took in 15 years running. Far from accepting the consequences of these actions we appear to have gone after S&P for having the nerve to rightly drop our credit rating ( just one small example). We have been repeating the same mistakes in drug policy, our approach to poverty and foreign policy for 4 decades!
We use force to obtain some of our own most basic needs from other countries. Far from accepting life on life's terms we and our megacorps attempt to dictate the terms to an entire , ever angrier world.
How in the world can we call ourselves Americans when we allow our government to make a mockery of American values, our values, on a daily basis?
