It can't happen too soon!
Demise of Party Loyalty: Is the Two Party System Dissolving? (http://www.voicesofliberty.com/article/demise-of-party-loyalty-is-the-two-party-system-dissolving/)
...Why the sudden shift and desertion of party loyalty? What is the reason behind the flood of disenchantment spanning every class from age, to race, to socio-economic status?
There can be only one answer: Americans – especially liberty-loving Republicans – are waking up to the sad realization that there are very few differences at the heart of each of our two major political parties. According to a recent Gallup Poll, a record high 43% of American voters consider themselves political Independents.
http://i.snag.gy/3JReO.jpg
...Even George Washington thoroughly addresses the dangers of party loyalty in his Farewell Address: “[Parties] are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”
Perhaps the answer to fixing our two party system is not changing parties from within, but dissolving them altogether. Maybe a return to the ideas and warnings of our founders when it comes to political factions will be what truly brings liberty and a government by and for the people back to the forefront. What else can be done?

No more two party system. That would be nice.

I think in sometime in the near future the two parties will start to break apart. Just a guess in the next 24 yrs 3 more potus cycles.
Eventually an independent will will come along that just grabs enough of the country to be victorious. Congress will take longer to flip

It doesn't though. Read some Sowell on this topic. What he points out is it's mistaken to see rich and poor as abstract groups when there's all sorts of income mobility going on, the rich dropping into poverty and vice versa.

There are more poor people that work their ass off just to get by than there are of the ones that have given up. You would be one yourself if there was no employer around that would have you. Perhaps you are and just don't realize it. Could it be that you are jealous that you punch a clock for your poverty subsistence while others just bask in the resort of public housing and play on the internet all day?

As Sowell puts it, link above: "There are of course some people who remain permanently in the bottom 20 percent. But such people constitute less than one percent of the American population, according to data published by the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in its 1995 annual report. Perhaps the intelligentsia and the politicians have been too busy waxing indignant to be bothered by anything so mundane as facts."

How can they do better, most decent paying middle class jobs are gone. So how do they do better with the minimum wage jobs that remain. People WORKING for minimum wage are qualifying for food stamps, housing ass't and medicaid.
Mac why cant you get it man, really, that corporate america has sent american opportunity to china out of greed. Thats my biggest bone of contention with the right their mindless defense of what they know is wrong and what is killing the country.
Still knowing there is no jobs the politicians on the right teaparty and Libertarians want to cut to the bone the safety nets for all the people that have no where else to go.
