Unprecedented leaks of behind-the-scenes information at the US Supreme Court (http://www.csmonitor.com/tags/topic/U.S.+Supreme+Court) are raising questions about whether the threat of political attacks and other potential criticism played a role in the high court’s recent decision to uphold President Obama (http://www.csmonitor.com/tags/topic/Barack+Obama)’s health-care reform law.

The most detailed leaks came in a CBS News (http://www.csmonitor.com/tags/topic/CBS+Corporation) report over the weekend, suggesting that Chief Justice John Roberts (http://www.csmonitor.com/tags/topic/John+Roberts+(Chief+Justice)) may have switched sides in the high-profile case in part to insulate the court and his own legacy as chief justice from election-year criticism should the court strike down the massive reform law.

President Obama and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (http://www.csmonitor.com/tags/topic/Patrick+Leahy) (D) of Vermont (http://www.csmonitor.com/tags/topic/Vermont), among others, made statements after oral arguments in the case suggesting that any decision overturning the health-care law would be the illegitimate work of conservative judicial activists on the Supreme Court.....snip~

Leaks to CBS over Roberts and what was assumed he would do. Interesting to note that Leahy and Obama made Public remarks but that they cannot say they were attempting to influence the SCOTUS? That Obama used the Bully Pulpit. Leaks just coming out all over the place under this Administration. Thoughts?

Bottom line, Roberts is a coward.

I agree. He cares more about his image and even the image of the Court. His so pissed off the 4 dissenters that they wouldn't even concur on the Commerce / Necessary and Proper Clause part.....

I do think that this decision has greatly harmed the Court.

Bottom line...The American people were totally thrown under the bus by this court, the same way Obama threw his racist pastor under the bus.

Oh and the court is designed and set up within our Constitution the way it is because the court is supposed to be A POLITICAL. The fact that these justices were worried about political matters in this ruling, allowing political worries to define the ruling, instead of our Constitution, should and is grounds for the Congress to bring up impeachment proceedings of some justices as well while they are at it impeaching this President.

IF we lived in a world where we had a Congress that actually did it's job.
