...VBulletin had a real ignore feature, like Facebook.

Put someone on ignore and they vanish forever. They don't see you, you don't see them. No signs of them whatsoever, not in replies, new threads, quotes - poof, gone.

Then I'd use it.

I see lots of people talking about using the ignore feature but it seems few really do. I think they enjoy the arguing. Who wants to live in an echo chamber?

I agree with that but there are some that are wholly disruptive and offer no value whatsoever to the process. It would be nice to filter out some of the noise.

Is that really how Facebook's ignore works? (Can you tell I don't do much on Facebook?)

That doesn't seem like an ignore feature. More of a hide feature.
