View Full Version : Whites Excluded From ‘Black Lives Matter’ Forum On Angelo West Shooting

Well, here we are.
The black community is now dictating who can & cannot discuss shootings involving blacks. Or at least when the there's video of the involved black guy shooting a cop prior to his being shot.
What is truly amazing here, is that they actually feel they have to conduct a forum to determine whether or not they should throw another temper tantrum over the shooting by the police of Angelo West after he shot a cop in the face!!!!
Unbelievable!!! We are turning into Bizzarro World.
The “Black Lives Matter Boston” group excluded white people from a forum earlier this week to discuss the shooting of Angelo West.
The Black Lives Matter group posted on Facebook Saturday that “tomorrow’s community meeting will be a People of Color ONLY space. Thank you for respecting the wishes of community and Angelo West’ family.”
Police killed Angelo West after he shot Officer John Moynihan in the face. Moynihan is recovering at Boston Medical Center.
http://www.gopusa.com/news/files/2015/03/angelo_west.jpg
The Black Lives Matter group describes itself as being “committed to being active in the movement against racist policing and police violence both locally and nationally.”
The shooting of Officer Moynihan was not West’s first incident with the police. In 2001, West fired on police officers as they attempted to disarm him. According to the police, West repeatedly said, “Shoot me. I don’t care.”
West was ultimately charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder and firearms charges.
According to CBS Boston, due to West’s previous criminal convictions — assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm, and drug dealing within a school zone — prosecutors wanted to convict West under the Armed Career Criminal statute. Conviction would have meant a mandatory 15-20 year sentence; however, the Armed Career Criminal sentence was ultimately not pursued. Instead, West received a 10-year sentence in 2003.
Daunasia Yancey, an organizer for the Black Lives Matter Boston group, told the Boston Herald the chapter has not yet taken a position on the West shooting. She said a formal position will be released soon, along with any protest plans.
Joao DePina, who attended the Black Lives Matter event, stated “I came in here to basically say to them we can’t jump on this issue and automatically say the police are wrong.”
DePina disagreed with the exclusion of white people.
“We’re segregating our own selves,” he said. “How can you have a meeting and say, ‘I don’t want white people in it?’ There’s plenty of white people that are behind our issues and our matters, so how can you close the door?”
Yancey told the Boston Herald the white supporters of the Black Lives Matter initiative did not feel alienated by the event’s exclusion of white people. They “respected the community and how they want to be supported.”

IDGAF how many "likes" they have on FB.
This is the leadership of the Boston chapter of BLM & they invited THE BLACK COMMUNITY.... ONLY..... to discuss whether or not they should attempt to exploit the shooting of a white cop by a black thug, for political gain.
You go ahead & defend that all you want to.

I'm inclined to agree with the principle's reasoning on this...the picture looks different when viewed from both sides, doesn't it?
http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/oak-park/news/ct-oak-black-lives-matter-tl-0312-20150306-story.html
"I credit them with giving me the push I needed to follow my heart and do something different for our school," he said.
Rouse, who has been principal at the school for seven years, said the decision to allow only black students was based in an idea known as affinity grouping. In an affinity group, the philosophy is that students of one racial persuasion are able to express themselves fully and safely.
"In order for us to move forward, I believe the affinity group is the safe way for us to move forward in a safe environment," he said.
Rouse said as a black man, he knows firsthand that it can be challenging to be open in a mixed-race group.
"I found it has been far easier for me to talk about my experiences with racism with individuals that look like me," he said. "I still struggle myself with talking about my experiences with people who don't look like me."
As a result of the approach taken at the school, Rouse said, the students shared their thoughts about being the only black students in advanced placement classes, having few black teachers, and their feelings about always having to represent their race rather than themselves in classroom discussions.
"Unfortunately, the stories that they shared weren't new to me. They were experiences I had in high school and experiences I had in college," he said.

It's always a struggle, isn't it? If a female student was raped, we could understand a "female only" gathering to discuss it, right? Because females can feel safer in an environment when there are no males around?
We can see how black people want to discuss the shooting of black people in an environment that is just them - because they can say things without having white people misinterpret them or start feeling defensive or feeling the need to argue that it's not "all white people" ...which of course it certainly isn't all white people, but in a discussion of shootings, comments could be made that come out that way.
If people do want to discuss things in an exclusive environment, I think it's important to ALSO have a discussion in an environment open to all.
So for the school - I hope they followed up that meeting with one for all students. Re the FB group - I hope they later open up a discussion open to all.
When I was heavily involved in NOW, there were times when the women of color didn't want us white women in the room - they felt it changed the dynamics, sucked some power from them, changed the discussion. I didn't like it; I understood it. But again - the rest of the time, we were all in the room together.

I understand some of you feel butt-hurt because you aren't welcome in a discussion among black people about racism and cops shooting black people. But there are lots of places you can discuss the issue, with a wide range of people.
While we might wish this FB thread was open to all, it's their choice. If you want to start a thread for whites to discuss it, please do.
And the fact that it seems like this shooter totally deserved to be shot should not take away from all the unjustified murders by cops.

You missed the point, Forrest.
It's not about a FB post.
It's about them not only not wanting to allow comments from whites, but their lack of willingness to discuss the underlying issues in their own community in favor of demonizing whites & the police AND focusing solely on the cops shooting of the thug while deciding how they should go about protesting it.
Get it, Forrest?
Maybe the reason they don't want comments from whites is to avoid the possibility of those issues being raised.

Here's the rub, Slingblade. You see, I think this particular Facebook group is causing more problems than good. I also think the discussion should include all Americans, as it affects all Americans. However, I also can understand why some feel like they would have a more productive discussion by limiting the audience in attendance, but I totally disagree with it being by skin color.
What they should have said is all people are welcome except petty, single issue assholes, who want nothing but to disrupt the discussion by bringing up subjects that have nothing to do with the topic on hand. Let's be specific here. Though it might not be an official act of discrimination from a legal standpoint, it is still every bit as much discrimination as if you threw a party at your house & invited everyone on the block except the black family across the street.
Or started a discussion forum & banned someone for no reason other than that you found out he or she was a member of some ethnic/religious/political/lifestyle/gender group you for whatever reason, did not want participating in the discourse on your forum.
Same thing as on FB.

Are you really missing the point, or are you & your supporters around here just feigning ignorance to avoid addressing the real issue, which is the utter hypocrisy of BLM "segregating themselves" (a phony, polite, BS way of saying 'discriminating against others') after decades of crying over every miniscule act of perceived discrimination against blacks?
Even if not one single, solitary white person wanted to join in & even if it's only on Facebook, the idea is the same.
Not to mention the questions that it raises. Like, what exactly is it that they are afraid to discuss, that some white person might bring up? Are they afraid some white person might remind them that Angelo West was a violent thug who shot a cop in the face & as such, deserved to get wasted by the other cops? Or the astronomical rate of black crime in the US? Or if they're ever going to start addressing the issue?
I think they're a bunch of spineless chickensh*ts who are every bit as bad as those who they are complaining about.

So who do they speak for.... the white community? Oh wait, they excluded whites from their discussions so it must be someone else.
From the article I quoted in the OP:

Some were groups that dealt with other specific issues. What is the problem with the group most concerned with the shooting of black citizens being limited to those who are actually black?

Like when a baker doesn't want to bake a cake for, or a pizza shop doesn't want to cater, a certain couple's wedding based on the kind of sex they have. Most people would be inclined to say pretty much the same thing about that, that you two-faced hypocrites are saying on this issue...
"So what??? It's just a stupid cake!!! A business of this nature should have the right to accept or decline business from anyone they want to!!! There are hundreds of other cake bakers & pizza shops around who would be happy to take your business, why do you insist on raising a stink about these two????"
Yet, what did we hear out of you all???? You shrieked like butt-raped babboons over it even though everyone knows the gay couple who made the stink about it, targeted these businesses for the sole purpose of creating a public uproar, garnering publicity for their agenda & very likely, lining their greedy little pockets.
But on this very similar issue, you shrug your weak little shoulders & say "So what?"
The two-facedness of you spineless, dishonest, limp-wrists on this subject is beyond belief. You can't even rationally discuss the issue, relying instead on tossing around cheap little insults like a bunch of b*tchy queens.
You are ridiculous little people who follow popular opinion like mindless sheep being led by the nose.

I'm not an extreme leftist, but whatever floats your boat. I look forward to you allowing die-hard Democrats to participate in your nominating conventions.
I'm a die-hard Democrat, fool.
Voted for Obama both times. Voted for Clinton, Gore & Kerry too.
I just don't drink the Kool Aid when it comes to the myth of black victimhood.
Dishonesty is dishonesty, no matter whose side is doing it.

I think everyone on the board owes you ding-a-lings a big thanks. Thanks for showing us all once again, how disingenuous & phony you all are on the subject of race. Had some white organization that forwarded the interests of white people excluded blacks from anything, you all would have been pointing the finger & crying "racists!!!".

You should push for legalizing weed where you are, it would help calm you down.
Sent from the future.

You're also a die-hard asshole, apparently. If you're going to be rude, we have nothing further to say to each other.

You should just admit that you're FOS on this issue rather than continue to make yourself look like a petulant little baby capable of nothing more than reaching into your soiled diaper & flinging your poo.

I'm confused. I have participated in different organizations and groups that limit membership for different reasons. Some were groups for women dealing with issues that women are concerned with. Some were groups that dealt with other specific issues. What is the problem with the group most concerned with the shooting of black citizens being limited to those who are actually black?
What's next? AA meetings being chastised for limiting membership to recovering alcoholics? Are males going to storm the next meeting of the La Lache League?
Oh my! the images of a militia group in camouflage storming La Leche, shooting up the walls, demanding that they too should get to nurse their babies.. thank you! that was funny!

A facebook group that has less than 8k "likes" is now the "black community"? I'll have to remember that the next time a Cliven Bundy type event happens.

Funny if you're the kind of hoity-toity, PC obsessed, womens' issue-centric d-bag who makes or appreciates references to things like La Leche.

They are a portion of it.
But not to anywhere near the extent that BLM represents the views of a majority of the black community.

You're just jealous because, unlike you, I actually have a car.
Whereas you have to take the bus to the public library every day so you can post here on their computers.
