Government logic: Spending $28M to create 76 jobs

By Kyle Smith | April 12, 2015 | 6:00 am

You’ve seen Andrew Cuomo’s TV commercials, the ones that say, “The new New York is open. Open to innovation. Open to ambition. Open to bold ideas.” The spot is promoting the Start-Up NY program.

Now the results are starting to come in: 76 jobs so far.

In the entire state. From a program that has spent $28 million advertising its own existence.

That’s $368,000 per job.

In 2012 the Institute for Justice ranked the states by the onerousness of their occupational licensing requirements. New York finished 40th (with No. 1 being the least onerous state).

This is absolutely laughable, $368,000 per job. They waste $28 million to create 76 jobs, but if you need an "Occupational License" NY's they're to make ya pay through the nose.

It show in their GDP growth too. Notice the Red States who typically have the lowest "onerous regulations" have the highest GDP growth. For the most part the Blue States who have highest "onerous regulations" were 2% or under, just like the nation as a whole. Obama should be grateful to the Red States for keeping the average up.

I can't see Hillary Clinton's economic plans (Obama's 3rd term) being any more effective than the economic malaise we're in right now. Vote for Hillary if you like the way the economy's going
