Obama: Turn Off Fox News
Obama suggests patron ask bar owner to switch off the conservative-leaning cable network.

Ohio — At an unscheduled stop at Ziggy’s Pub and Restaurant, an Amherst, Ohio bar, President Barack Obama suggested that the channel be changed when he was made aware that televisions were showing Fox News.

Obama and Fox News have gone to war frequently during his three and a half years in office — most recently over a sharply negative teaser shown on Fox and Friends that the White House took as a Fox News-sponsored attack ad on the president.

The Obama Administration frequently used the network as a proxy punching bag for its Republican opponents in the early years of his presidency. Fox's personalities, led by Glenn Beck, fired back with more and more incendiary comments, but a somewhat delicate balanced was reached after the 2010 election in which both sides toned down their rhetoric.

The exchange, per pooler Mark Landler:

As he thanked the group for their support, one of them, Jeff Hawks, gestured to one of the TV's and said, "You're in a building that has Fox news on."

Obama suggested that Hawks ask for it to be changed. "The customer is always right," he said.

"I'll arm-wrestle you for your vote," Hawks said to Obama. "No, I'll play basketball for your vote," he replied.

UPDATE: Landler adds, in an addendum to a new pool report, that Obama's remarks were in jest:

When President Obama told a patron at Ziggy's bar in Amherst, OH that he suggest that the TV be switched from Fox, he made the remark in a humorous exchange, as did in a subsequent exchange about arm-wrestling or playing basketball over the patron's vote.

Anybody else think Barack looks kinda sickly? Maybe it's that too-big shirt he's wearing, but he looks so thin & drawn. Wonder if Michelle ever lets him eat?

President Obama shakes hands July 6, 2012, with waitress Toni Watkins

President Obama is eating his way across the Midwest on his two-day campaign bus tour of Ohio and Pennsylvania, but he said it's necessary.

"People've been commenting — I need to gain some weight," the president said in the Ohio town of Poland on Friday morning, as he explained the waistline-stimulus program he's undertaken on his trip.

In less than 24 hours the First Stomach has put down a cheeseburger and fries at Kozy Corners in Oak Harbor, drank a Bud Light at Ziggy's Pub and Restaurant in Amherst, and then began Friday with two eggs, bacon and wheat toast at Ann's Place in Akron.

Eating is a staple of the campaign trail — though Mr. Obama's own habits come under extra scrutiny because his wife, Michelle, has made healthy eating her major project as first lady.
But she is not along on this trip — the president joked she needed to stay home and supervise Malia, their daughter who just turned 14, and her friends — and that means the president has returned to his burger-eating ways.

Cheeseburgers were the president's lunch order on his first flight as president on Air Force One, and it's also his chief staple when he's out pressing the flesh.

By The Washington Times' count, the president has ordered a burger at least 13 times during food runs while in the White House.

Could be true. I wonder how Larry Sinclair is doing.

He's got to shut dissent one way or another. He has no valid plans that he can discuss. Perhaps Fox News can get an interview with outgoing Russian President Medvedev and ask him what he though President Obama meant by whispering he could be more flexible after the election. I can't imagine NBC, CNN, MSDNC, ABC, or NPR asking unless they're guarenteed an Obama-approved response.
