Presidential hopeful Rand Paul’s son, William Hilton Paul, charged with drunken driving after Kentucky crash
The son of Republican Presidential hopeful Rand Paul was busted on drunken driving charges in Kentucky.

William Hilton Paul, 22, plowed into a parked car shortly before noon on Sunday in Lexington, authorities said.
The powerful pol’s son was still sitting behind the wheel of a 2006 Honda Ridgeline when cops arrived to investigate the 11:24 p.m. crash, police said.
He reeked of booze, slurred his speech and became “belligerent” with officers, the incident report said.
Witnesses told investigators Paul was revving his engine in an intersection moments before they heard the crash.

He was treated for minor facial injuries at the University of Kentucky hospital and released, a police spokeswoman said. No one was in the other car.
Police cited Paul for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and failure to maintain insurance.

Nothing like being a senator's son....driving under the influence AND not having valid insurance would enable me to spend some time in jail.

Maybe next lifetime?

EDITED to add - I'm confused, did this happen before noon or at night. Because depending on which time was correct, would indicate if he has a problem or not.

The charges mark the third time that William Paul has had a run-in with the law involving alcohol, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported on its site Kentucky.com.

Paul, a senior majoring in communications at the University of Kentucky, was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor in October 2013 at the Keeneland horse racetrack.

In January of that year, he was arrested at the airport in Charlotte, N.C., and charged with simple assault of a 22-year-old flight attendant, consuming beer or wine underage, disorderly conduct and being intoxicated and disruptive on a US Airways flight.

The Charlotte charges were dismissed later under a deferred prosecution program for first time offenders, after William Paul completed alcohol education classes and 150 hours of community service, the newspaper reported.

Not really...and certainly not fines for underage drinking. The assault maybe. But it was probably dismissed in exchange for the community service. For this to be a felony he would have to have been charged with a DUI in the past.

Heres the best one Rand Pauls son 20yrs old Is on medicaid. Rand Paul excuses it away.

How did Rand Paul’s son end up on Medicaid?
“I actually tried to get my son signed up through the Kentucky exchange, you know, that the Democrats have said is so good. And I have here my son’s Medicaid card. We didn’t try to get him Medicaid, I’m trying to pay for his insurance. But they automatically enrolled him in Medicaid.”

This column has been updated with a new Pinocchio rating.
This is an odd story — the saga of how Rand Paul’s oldest son tried to get health insurance via the Kentucky version of Obamacare, and ended up on Medicaid, the federal-state health-care program for the poor. Paul held up the card on television to prove it, saying the system was “a mess.”

Kids get ticketed for underage drinking, we all drink underage.

The only thing that is applicable may be his assault charge. But that was thrown out because of his agreement to do community service. That's a standard practice.

His DUI is his first, therefore it's not a felony. I have not seen any evidence that he has received preferential treatment.

I never got arrested so no.

But you were violating the law. You were indeed committing a crime, you just weren't caught.

Anyways, all I'm saying is that I don't see preferential treatment. If you can point some out, I'll take a look.

I started drinking at age 17 ... but this was mainly due to peer pressure ... and the fact I could graduate from high school before my senior year had started ... such that by 22 ... after a few short years of irresponsibility, dereliction and overall scumbaggery ... and especially my lower than my expectations of college GPA ... I started to wonder if I was an alcoholic and drug addict ...

The mere wondering if I was ... meant I was ... (See Jellinek Curve) ... so I quit.

Have you ever questioned your sanity?

You can keep him.

Woulda kept Bryan Adams if he didn't make all those cheesy love songs in the 90s.
