Rap and Punk are both misfits of mainstream culture, yes, but the message is completely different. Rap is about guns, drugs, sex, and conforming to the people who make the music. Punk is about not conforming and being your own person, although a lot of that gets twisted and the culture ends up becoming about conforming to the music as well.
