Here’s yet another sign of how conservative Republicans who have taken over the Republican Party appear to be going against the American public’s trending — and younger voters. For the first time since 2008, Gallup finds, (http://www.gallup.com/poll/183434/americans-choose-pro-choice-first-time-seven-years.aspx) more Americans choose “pro choice” over “pro life.” To sum it up, it’s most likely due to a)losing an argument b)losing an argument by not trying to alter views by reason but by undermining your argument by using anger and rage against those who see it differently:

Any issue so closely dividing Americans should never have been decided by SCOTUS, let alone, as a social issue, by government at all.

I think we are seeing a backlash against people wanting to make personal decisions for others. Look at the changes regarding drug laws, marriage laws, and other areas of individual choice. The one thing we (as Americans) usually agree on? Don't tell us what to do or what to think.

If you read alot of sites, you will find many references and polls including a gallup poll that says americans are getting more liberal socially.

Somewhere down the road the GOP has to change position on pandering to the religious right. Its always benefited them in the past especially in the south. That influence is diminishing rapidly and it certainly hurts them on a national level when their rhetoric pandering to the Religious right gets thrown in their face

It's kind of interesting that as people are becoming less religious and more tolerant of gays, pro drug decriminalization, etc, that they're also becoming more against abortion.

I don't know what it means, but it's interesting and somewhat surprising.

The poll represented a slight reversal to the country being pro choice

If you like your dead fetus you can keep your dead fetus.

Conservative Republicans have taken over the Republican party? LOL.

I don't normally use drugs but I will have whatever drug you are using. I want to believe that Conservatives have attained parity with the establishment Republicans.

I think they polled people on political boards. Based on some of the utter nonsense some people here post I can imagine lots of people supporting abortion.
