U.S. Gives $7 Bil in Food Benefits to “Ineligible Recipients”
MAY 22, 2015
The bloated federal agency charged with feeding the poor—and eradiating “food insecurity” in the U.S.—blew nearly $7 billion to provide “ineligible recipients” with the welfare benefit and there appears to be no end in sight to the fleecing.
Last year the USDA made an astounding $6.9 billion of “improper payments,” according to a scathing report (http://www.usda.gov/oig/webdocs/50024-0008-11.pdf) made public this week by the agency’s inspector general. Two programs accounted for a chunk of the money that was wasted; food stamps, officially known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to eliminate the stigma of welfare and the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) which cost American taxpayers a whopping $16 billion in 2014. Of the $6.9 billion in fraudulent payments made by the USDA, those two programs accounted for $4.2 billion. Thus, they have been coined “high-risk programs,” according to the USDA watchdog.
Also this week, Congress held a special hearing (http://edworkforce.house.gov/calendar/eventsingle.aspx?EventID=398843) to address waste, fraud and abuse in child nutrition programs operated by the USDA. At the hearing, held by the House Subcommittee on Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education, witnesses identified misused taxpayer dollars in three of the nation’s largest child nutrition programs, which include school lunch and breakfast.

$6.9 billion in “improper payments”, yet Democrats claim the Government doesn't get enough funding . I believe this is what we call a half truth. While it is true, they don't get enough funding, not when you consider just how much the boobs that run our government waste out of sheer incompetence, fraud and abuse. It's like the same old story played over and over. Won't it be great if the government institutes child nutrition programs, poor kids will get meals at school even if their single Mom spends the welfare money on booze, drugs and cigarettes. Hey at least the kids get fed....right?

That's what we pay $16 billion dollars a year for? Seems like there must be some waste fraud and abuse going on somewhere.
Now think of Nationalized Health Care.........Do you really want your Doctor to the the Medical counterpart of Lunch Lady Doris serving up health care the same way?

The federal government is waging a successful war against the American taxpaying citizens. We need to recognize that the federal government has been waging this war against us and begin to respond appropriately.
This is in parallel with the war the IslamoNAZIs have been waging against us.
If we do not respond appropriately we will be defeated.

You and I agree then on crony capitalism where the government gives money to Obama's donors. But that is not what you meant is it liberal?
You are a Marxist. You believe that all wealth really belongs to the government and it should be given as Marxists like yourself believe it should be. You, foolishly, believe that allowing a company to keep more of the wealth it created is "handing out" but that is because you are a Marxist.
I will leave it at that.

Last year, 2014, the take for corporations was 131 billion.
I wonder why we never see Conservatives posting rants on here about Corporate Welfare?

It's not at all a Conservative issue though, it's a government problem. If we Conservatives had been having our way the problem would not exist at all.
The least you can do is own it and admit to yourself that Liberals and their ilk have single-handedly created such "corporate welfare."

Usually it is because people like you mean that they follow the tax laws.
Crony capitalism, practiced routinely by this administration is highly objectionable. But that is not what you mean is it?
So how did this "take" operate? Let's see how much we can agree upon.

Nationalized healthcare isn't healthcare run by the government. It's healthcare where the government acts as insurer.
Waste and fraud are certainly issues that should be dealt with. I don't think anyone would dispute that.

MEDICARE FRAUD: A GROWING PROBLEM
In FY 2012, the Justice Department opened 1,131 new criminal health care fraud investigations involving 2,148 potential defendants, and a total of 826 defendants were convicted of health care fraud-related crimes during the year.
According to one estimate, Medicare fraud is estimated to cost taxpayers $60 billion to $90 billion each year.
http://www.aging.senate.gov/press-releases/lawmakers-join-all-out-push-to-combat-medicare-fraud
Medicare and Medicaid fraud dwarfs private industry fraud per person in the system. Medicare insures approx 43 million and generates $60 to $90 billion (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/01/24/national/main7279531.shtml) in fraud.
The number of people with health insurance increased to 256.2 million in 2010 from 255.3 million in 2009.
http://www.census.gov/newsroom/releases/archives/income_wealth/cb11-157.html
That's 43 million (Medicare) vs 213 million (Private Insurance)
The most conservative estimate of the amount of healthcare expenditures lost to fraud is three percent, which equates to over $70 billion annually.
http://www.bcbs.com/report-healthcare-fraud/
213 million private insured with $70 billion in fraud. 43 million Public insured with $60 Billion in fraud (I used the lowest estimate).
Private insurance fraud has approx $330 in fraud per insured.
Medicare Government run insurance approx $1430 in fraud per insured.
Fraud in the public sector insurance is over 4 time that in the private sector, yet our Government thinks it can administer health insurance better, that would include the fraud too. The ACA regulates private insurance companies to spend 80% - 85% of their collected premiums (http://www.hhs.gov/healthcare/facts/timeline/timeline-text.html) on insurees and limits administrative costs like the ones used to combat fraud 4 time more effectively than Medicare.
