The Romney campaign and conservative bloggers have been feasting on a selectively-edited quote (http://thinkprogress.org/media/2012/07/16/525181/conservatives-selectively-edit-obamas-speech-to-claim-he-hates-small-businesses/) from President Obama to argue that he believes that the government, not business owners, are responsible for the success of their enterprises. Though Obama’s comment — “if you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else did that” — accurately observed that businesses large and small rely on public infrastructure funded by taxpayer dollars, Republicans have used the statement to reinforce their ‘Obama hates businesses’ narrative.

But during a campaign appearance in Ohio on Wednesday, Mitt Romney misquoted Obama, before agreeing that tax payer-funded programs help all American businesses succeed:

First off Republicans have never said there wasn't a need for Government. But when Cigar can get down explaining How it is the feds jobs to do what Local Government does then he might have some ground to stand on. So Romney is correct. It is not the Job of the Federal Government to create these types of Jobs. Also Obama falsified the statement of saying the Hiring of Teachers creates jobs.

But now Obama saying that no man can build a buisness without the help of government. Thats another story. This falls off into that it takes a community thing. Well, if he said it, good for him. We don't need more government workers of any kind, particularly the ones who sit on their ass at city hall. And we don't need a bankrupt Federal government printing money to hire teachers, police or firemen. That belongs at the local level where people can decide best for themselves and their communities whether they want to pay for these "services."

Cigar, take a look at how much money y'all spend on these "services" in Chicago. Put your politics aside for a moment and ask yourself this question as a consumer of these "services."
