Oddly that is why they win over so many Americans. Americans are basically ignorant people when it comes to their own interests and the interests of working people. Go figure.

A great read for the interested reader is 'A Bubble in Time: America During the Interwar Years, 1989-2001' by William L. O'Neill. Read about Clinton's second run for president and how he sold out America's values with Dick Morris' help. Pages around 196. May be able to read on Amazon or Google books.

While off topic this piece is about welfare under Billy Boy. http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1997/03/the-worst-thing-bill-clinton-has-done/376797/

It never ceases to amaze how progressives know what is in everyone's best interests.

BTW, @Chris (http://thepoliticalforums.com/member.php?u=128) this is a perfect example of liberal economism. We all know that's what he means. part and parcel of economism is the belief that it's only rational to act in your perceived economic interests.

And what are the Democrats busy with, trying to figure what midcan's muttering.

Wouldn't economism also be the abstraction of all the economy is to only what can be reasoned about thinking that will lead to solutions.

Well that is good news, when did he get started on all that stuff? I hope he can get it done before he leaves office.

If that is what he is working on he should find a lot of Republican support, the democrats won't be too happy, but he will have enough to get things done.

We're not discussing economics, midcan.

I understand it as an ideology whereby human existence is reduced to the economic.

Wiki has a good definition:

Economism is reduction (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reductionism) of all social facts (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_fact) to economic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic) dimensions.

If Obama didn't lose the house and senate in record landslide elections this couldn't be posted.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economism

Like that: "Old Right social critic Albert Jay Nock used the term more broadly, denoting a moral and social philosophy "which interprets the whole sum of human life in terms of the production, acquisition, and distribution of wealth". He went on to say "I have sometimes thought that here may be the rock on which Western civilization will finally shatter itself. Economism can build a society which is rich, prosperous, powerful, even one which has a reasonably wide diffusion of material well-being. It can not build one which is lovely, one which has savor and depth, and which exercises the irresistible power of attraction that loveliness wields. Perhaps by the time economism has run its course the society it has built may be tired of itself, bored of its own hideousness, and may despairingly consent to annihilation, aware that it is too ugly to be let live any longer.""

I think economics a useful tool and way of looking at things but it's not everything and is in fact very limited.

What argument is he winning? He doesn't seem to win or compromise even with his own party. Not sure what you mean.

Great quote. I've seen that before. Think I had it as a signature at one time. lol

Agreed. i think we see things through an economic prism, if you will. Me too. I was raised in this culture. It's hard to discard.

The fact that Howey had to post that says a lot about him. None of it is good.

How is a five year old supposed to be cognizant of being gay? They are absolutely correct in keeping this indoctrination out of our schools.

Other than had the symbolism, what can the congress do about breast cancer? The research is continuous. More symbolic spending will make idiots feel better, but it won't accomplish anything.

I agree that we should not give funding to anybody that associates themselves with the black baby murderers Planned Parenthood. 17,000,000 black baby deaths in the PP holocaust. Anybody that associates themselves with that open and honestly doesn't deserve my money or any other taxpayer money, no matter what their agenda is. Give the money DIRECTLY TO breast cancer research and quit trying to be deceptive in making it look like you're doing something for a good cause and actually feeding the black genocide.

The more Obama gets his way, the more the more upset he becomes because everyone doesn't all of a sudden fall in line and agree with him.

at least they are illegally harvesting and selling the organs of these aborted children and I'm sure all liberals can support that.

The pro abortion people say that abortion doesn't kill a viable life. The life seems to be viable enough to harvest and sell body parts though.
