KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine — Former President George H.W. Bush fell on Wednesday morning while at home in Kennebunkport, Maine, spokesman Jim McGrath told CNN.

He has a broken bone in his vertebrae in his neck but “it was not life threatening” McGrath said.

He is in a hospital in Portland, Maine, and is very stable.

McGrath said he was never disoriented.

“We are not expecting a long stay,” McGrath said.

Not a good sign at that age.

Maybe he will admit to his 1963 Dallas connection before he expires.

He's a tough old bird.... I am sure he will recover. The last republican president that didn't make me gag.

Well, Obama is not the first nor last Democrat to make me gag.

I don't get it. A neck vertebrae and he is about to leave the hospital?

The technology in medicine these days is amazing. Unbelievable the things they can do with injured patients.

It can sound worse than it is. He will probably have to wear a collar for support but not all breaks mean "broken neck" as most people think. It could be a very minor fracture with little damage to the area around it. I've had clients who went home after having a "broken neck" and did manual, hardcore farm work (against doctor's orders). It really depends on the break/damage.

The severity can vary. I suspect he can afford the necessary care at home.

I wish him well.....he is one of the last old fashioned gentleman politicians.

I don't want to live to be that old.

I told my kids to kill me off (painlessly) once I turn 70.

I told my son to just buy me a one-way ticket on a Greyhound bus to somewhere else. The modern version of an Eskimo on an iceberg!

I jokingly told my son that somewhere along the way when we were all talking about something or another.

He says "sure you want to wait that long?"

I saw the Greyhound Bus idea in an article by Irma Bombeck. She was one of my favorite humorous writers. Anyone who can make me laugh about cleaning a toilet and other household jobs is a great humorist! A female Will Rogers!

Thanks a lot. Next time I break my neck .... ha ha, I will remember this. I love learning something new daily.

I saw my doctor yesterday. My normal liquid is coffee. He told me that he does not care how i get my liquid since coffee he says is 99 percent water. Course he would not approve any alcohol drink to get that "water."

The technology in medicine these days is amazing. Unbelievable the things they can do with injured patients.

When my son in law was still a detective, he used a city car to do some official business. Stopped at a red light, some woman plowed her car into the rear of the car he was in. A neck vertebra injury happened and to this day it still pains him. He got early retirement over this with compensation for his injury included in his retirement pay. He worked for a good number of years suffering that injury.

I have to recheck but I believe my actual father lived about one more year. I saw him last when he was maybe my age and he looked like shit. Used a wheel chair and complained constantly. I think the complaining wears you out.

The doctor gave my artery system in my heart a tune up in 2011 and says I am good for 20 more years.

When people type out words, the least i can do for them is to read each word and understand every sentence.

I notice on this forum far too many don't read every sentence.

I look at it like this.

In 1500 I was not living. In 2500 I won't be living.

My time comes with a beginning and an end. I really have no control, so I never worry about it.

There are people who waste time fearing the end.
