View Full Version : GOP’s Three Biggest Fears in 2012

Fear #1: Majority Rule in the Senate

A very revealing thing happened in Washington last week. On Wednesday, the Senate held two tax cut votes that were not blocked—filibustered—by Republicans. Both times, simple majorities voted to reinstate higher federal income tax rates on the wealthiest Americans. In any other decade, in any other economic downturn, this outcome would seem utterly predictable and common sense. But today’s anti-tax GOP is different.

Fear #2: Open Elections

The GOP’s need to game voting has spread like political cancer. In state after state since 2010, Republican-controlled legislatures have gone to great lengths to complicate many aspects of the voting process, from registration to ballot-access rules. The goal, as yet another Republican legislator bragged last week in Wisconsin, is to suppress perceived Democratic voting blocks, particularly people of color, the poor and students.

Fear #3: Standing By Their Words in Public

The political party that wants to end all campaign finance regulation so there can be unfettered speech—that’s their high-minded line—doesn’t want members and backers to stand up in public saying, essentially, "I paid for this ad and I approve of this message."

Republicans 3 biggest fears:

1. Obama buys re-election
2. Soros buys Obama's re-election
3. DNC buys Obama's re-election

(With blind-faith worshippers like the OP, none of these fears is out of the realm of possibility.

Democrats Lead Increase in Concern About Big Government
Almost half of Democrats now say big government is the biggest threat to the nation, more than say so about big business, and far more than were concerned about big government in March 2009. The 32% of Democrats concerned about big government at that time -- shortly after President Obama took office -- was down significantly from a reading in 2006, when George W. Bush was president.

By contrast, 82% of Republicans and 64% of independents today view big government as the biggest threat, slightly higher percentages than Gallup found in 2009.

Lower percentages of Democrats, Republicans, and independents are now concerned about big business than was the case in 2009.....snip~

Didn't leave out anything... the figures for Inauguration Day are Bush's final report card. Just look at how much damage Barack has done since then. Not the stock market... not some chart showing we have plenty of jobs (although unemp hasn't gone under 8%)... the things that hurt the middle class & poor people the most... like the price of gasoline, lower home values, higher tuition costs, rising health insurance costs... and not listed but still relevant... the soaring cost of food.

Do you really think only the 1% is suffering under Obama?

We've been over the fact -hundreds of times on many message boards- that the Frank/Dodd, ACORN, SEIU orchestrated, and the democrat controlled Congress of 2006 legislatively cemented the mortgage meltdown that crashed our economy. Pres Bush warned of, but was unable to stop the juggernaut that brought us to where we are today.

It takes 125,000 new jobs a month to keep up with population growth. source (http://bearingdrift.com/2012/05/04/job-creation-barely-keeping-up-with-population-growth/)
It takes 130,000 new jobs a month to sustain a recovery. source (http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/2012/06/01/20120601job-figures-fuel-doubts-us-recovery.html)
We added 80,000 new jobs last month; a third of them being temp jobs. source (http://business.time.com/2012/07/06/u-s-hiring-likely-improved-only-modestly-in-june/)
The month before (May), it was 69,000 new jobs. source (http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2012/06/01/154131119/unemployment-rate-8-2-percent-in-may-as-just-69-000-jobs-added)

We don't even have a recovery, let alone anything the admin can brag about. Obama -and his $172,200/year joker, Jay Carney- can continue to blame everyone in sight, spin it the other way, and tell us "the private sector is doing fine" (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/06/08/obama_the_private_sector_is_doing_fine.html), but the truth is what it is and even if he manages to win this November, that truth will not go away.

God help us if he wins somehow. We've been punished enough for electing him the first time.

No cigar, Cigar. This goes back to democrats' penchant for pandering to advocacy groups to nurture that base and buy their votes.

Is that all you have?

Congress locked in the legislation and the pressure groups picketed the banks and bankers homes. They got what they wanted and now we're ALL paying the price.

Now, address the other points of the post.
