In the middle of July 2007, George W. Bush’s Gallup approval rating (http://www.gallup.com/poll/116500/presidential-approval-ratings-george-bush.aspx) was 31 percent, with 63 percent disapproving. As of mid-July 2015, President Barack Obama’s approval and disapproval in the same poll are both 47 percent.

I did the math for you, Tea Partiers: Obama’s margin is about 32 percent better.

What’s even more remarkable is that a recent Suffolk University/USA Today poll (https://www.suffolk.edu/documents/SUPRC/7_15_2015_marginals.pdf) showed that the president, after more than six bruising years in office, is more popular than any candidate for president. His approval and disapproval in that poll is 44 percent, and the only candidates whose approval is slightly higher than his disapproval — Scott Walker, Ben Carson and Bernie Sanders — are still completely unknown to 1 out of 5 Americans.

Approval ratings don’t signify success, of course.

But what they do show is that the Republican perception of Obama as a failure somewhere on the spectrum between George W. Bush and the Hindenburg towing the Titanic is unique to them. And despite their best efforts to destroy his presidency, it’s thriving because the very things they see as failures, much of the public perceives as successes.

In an era of remarkable “negative partisanship (http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2015/04/negative-partisanship-has-transformed-politics.html),” the current occupant of the White House is seeing hints of Reagan-like rise in his approval rating, while W. saw a Nixon-like crumble in his for a pretty simple reason: Obama has seen a long string of policy successes that may be unrivaled by any recent president.

“Obama may be singular as a president, not only because of his striking background,” Kenneth Adelman, Ronald Reagan’s arms control negotiator with the Soviets, told Politico Magazine. (http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/07/barack-obamas-long-game-120259.html?ml=m_b5_1#.VauqsuhVhBc) “It may turn out that unlike virtually any other president, his second term is actually better than his first.”

Most Americans probably can't name more than one policy initiative that Obama is responsible for, and the only reason they can name one is because he and the Democrats exploited an anomalous window in the election cycle to ram an unpopular piece of healthcare legislation down the country's throat.

Obama, like Bush before him, has been a miserable failure as a President, and will go down in history as just another handmaiden to the corporate plutocracy. His legacy will be Wall Street bailouts, stagnant wages, historically low labor force participation rates, bombing dozens of countries, assassinating an American citizen without trial, his war on whistle-blowers and journalists, mass spying on Americans, reviving the Cold War with Russia, and piling on more debt.

Bush 43 was not a failure. He did some things I did not like, but some helped him get re-elected and the end justified the means.

Bush was a real CIC, but I didn't approve of large numbers of ground troops in Iraq.

Part D and No Child Left Behind helped him get re-elected.

To imply that Bush was no better than Obama is just plain silly!

Bush was arguably worse than Obama. He was a lying, war-mongering simpleton who piled on the debt, expanded federal bureaucracies, bailed out Wall Street, signed the treasonous patriot act, gave an executive order that allowed the NSA to spy on Americans, started a disastrous war based on lies, and allowed 3,000 American civilians to die in the worst terrorist attack in American history. He was an awful, miserable failure, and his administration was full of war criminals.

The Department of Labor (http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm) announced that the economy added 223,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate dropped to 5.3 percent:"

You have to understand, there are two presidents in office right now. There's the one that most everyone sees, a president who through some tough times, and some setbacks has tried to work towards what he thinks is in the best interests of the American people, he's had some WTF moments, where his policies don't jive with most Americans, but overall, he is doing a decent job.

Then there's the one that the FOX News crowd sees. a blazing demon hell bent on destroying everything everyone holds dear. A cruel and unmerciful dictator that subsists solely on the blood of newborn kittens and children's tears. A being of such unimaginable evil, he rises from his coffin (obviously made from the bones of the four Americans he personally killed in Benghazi), with the singular thought: "How can I further destroy this country today!" After some light exercise of whipping the kidnapped toddler of a US Vet, he goes downstairs to start his morning satanic ritual. Then golf.

So if all these jobs have been created? Why has the work for fallen to levels not seen since the Carter Administration.

Why is it that the average income in the USA has fallen 5K and that middle class families have lost 40% of their wealth?

I understand that Democrats do not understand how the economy works, but you must understand that something is not right.

How do you know that the next President or any Presidents to come will manage to shake the oligarchy that is currently dominating the world? Do we even know whether Presidential behavior is a matter of personal perference or a matter of force? The test would be Bernie Sanders, since he is not taking any corporate sponsorship. If he cannot resist the corporate oligarchy, then you will know that there is a gun to the heads of world leaders and all elections are a waste of time.

Rolling Stone Names President Obama ‘One of the Most Successful Presidents in American History’http://www.lovebscott.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/obamarolling.jpg

President Obama graces the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone.

In the mag, Nobel Prize- winning economist Paul Krugman wrote an amazing piece in defense of President Obama’s presidency.

Mainstream media is often quick to point out President Obama’s perceived failures during his tenure, so it’s refreshing to see a publication highlight his many accomplishments — especially because President Obama’s approval rating is currently the lowest it’s ever been (according to CNBC).

Krugman declares President Obama as one of the “one of the most consequential and, yes, successful presidents in American history” and acknowledges the harsh and often unfair criticism he endures.

Obama faces trash talk left, right and center – literally – and doesn’t deserve it. Despite bitter opposition, despite having come close to self-inflicted disaster, Obama has emerged as one of the most consequential and, yes, successful presidents in American history. His health reform is imperfect but still a huge step forward – and it’s working better than anyone expected. Financial reform fell far short of what should have happened, but it’s much more effective than you’d think. Economic management has been half-crippled by Republican obstruction, but has nonetheless been much better than in other advanced countries. And environmental policy is starting to look like it could be a major legacy.

I’ll go through those achievements shortly. First, however, let’s take a moment to talk about the current wave of Obama-bashing. All Obama-bashing can be divided into three types. One, a constant of his time in office, is the onslaught from the right, which has never stopped portraying him as an Islamic atheist Marxist Kenyan. Nothing has changed on that front, and nothing will.

Everything I said about Bush's Presidency was a fact. If you feel differently, then provide evidence to the contrary. Otherwise, you got nothing.

Don't blame me for the idiocy of others. The hicks I heard talking about that were prime example and it's too bad they don't have the balls to post their disgusting beliefs on-line.

Have you found any factual evidence of all these straight people who you claim believe the government is going to force them into a homosexual marriage?

it is an interesting corollary, however, that many straight people DO believe that the government can - and will - force churches to violate their sacraments and perform gay marriages.

double digit IQ's soaked with Faux News. Classic.

Fact: 3,000 Americans died in the worst terrorist attack in US history on Bush's watch
Fact: The Iraq war was a disaster that was based on exaggeration and lies.
Fact: Bush signed an executive order authorizing the NSA's mass domestic spying program.
Fact: Bush massively expanded federal government bureaucracies.
Fact: Bush signed TARP into law, which was a Wall Street bailout.
Fact: Bush added billions of dollars to the national debt.
Fact: Bush authorized torture regimes and other war crimes in Iraq.

Sorry if you don't like facts, but that will not make them go away.

Liberals are a very entertaining bunch. When their people pile up more debt than all other presidents combined and revive combat operations in a place which was stable and create a government run health care system which keeps the economy from growing, it's a good thing.

When end they get caught using the IRS to punish those with whom they simply disagree and spy on regular law abiding citizens, it's ok.

I'm not angry in the least, and what might seem to be goofiness is the fact that we are silly with excitement as the clown car keeps getting fuller and fuller and all of them are breaking Ronnie's 11th Commandment... this primary season will be a GOP blood bath. I don't think it was 75%. On various occasions here and other places, I have stated that I am arbitrarily a 60/40 person. I blame democrats for 60% of our country's woes and 40% I blame on the republicans. I think that's more than fair to have that opinion.
