U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., submitted a resolution Tuesday calling for the ouster of Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, as speaker of the house, saying the leader's actions have caused the power of Congress to "atrophy."

The resolution accuses Boehner of bypassing the majority of Congress by centralizing decision making.

"The speaker has, through inaction, caused the power of Congress to atrophy, thereby making Congress subservient to the executive and judicial branches, diminishing the voice of the American people," the resolution read.

Meadows also says Boehner punishes members who vote according to their own conscience, not according to the speaker's will.

Fellow Republican Launches Bid to Oust Boehner as House Speaker

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/fellow-republican-launches-bid-oust-boehner-house-speaker-n400071

WASHINGTON — A House Republican often at odds with John Boehner launched a bid Tuesday to kick the speaker of the house out of his job — an almost unheard-of rebellion but one that has been simmering for months.

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-North Carolina, filed a motion to "vacate the chair" — a parliamentary maneuver that could be used to depose Boehner, R-Ohio.

The motion accuses Boehner of having "endeavored to consolidate power and centralize decision-making, bypassing the majority of the 435 Members of Congress and the people they represent," and of using "the power of the office to punish Members who vote according to their conscience instead of the will of the Speaker."

That second charge is personal for Meadows, who went toe to toe with Boehner's leadership team last month — and won.

Meadows was stripped of his position as chairman of an Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee after he voted against a bill — backed by Boehner — to give President Barack Obama more authority to "fast track" trade initiatives.

Meadows won back the job after House conservatives raised an uproar.

Borner's a lib

Damn, how far right has the right wing gone that Boehner's a liberal to y'all? Doesn't that signify a problem with the party? That in order to be a conservative in this country you have to be so far right that BOEHNER is considered liberal?

Good, Boehner should be ousted, that way he can hang out with Glenn Beck and they can have a nice cleansing cry together.

It won't happen of course, but I think it would be great if Boehner was ousted and replace by Trey Gowdy.

The House needs someone strong enough to stand up to the President and the Senate.

"Meadows also says Boehner punishes members who vote according to their own conscience, not according to the speaker's will."

`
They key to understanding Meadows rationale here is knowing that "voting according to conscience" is a talking point or political doublespeak meant to represent the religious right and Tea Party. For all intents and purposes, Boehner is the physical representation of the GOP. Between him and the Republican Whip (Steve Scalise) they keep their policies and votes inline. However, the religious right and TP tend to be the most unruly and less pragmatic of the Republican party, often going off in their own unworldly tangents which has been causing dissonance with the party, hence their inability to reach a consensus needed for quid-pro-quo negotiations with the Democrats.

Rep. Mark Meadows was one of the loose cannon TP'ers sweep in during the mid-terms, vehemently opposed to the ACA and SSM, and was also one of those behind the government shut down. (source (http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/27/politics/house-tea-party/)) He blames Boehner for the ACA/SSM defeats and well as having his own vindictive agenda against him.

Great idea! Throw the bum out! If not successful, keep fighting and arguing with each other. This & Trump are sounding the death knells for the republican party.

Sow similar discord on the other side of the aisle and third party, here we come!

This is why we have such a problem in this country today.

We have liberals that don't even know the difference between the house and the senate? How can we possibly expect them to understand that many actions are unconstitutional?

And Yet there popularity stays the same or goes up? I think that when you want to toss the bums out that only have a 9% approval rating. You are pretty safe.

I agree and this is especially troublesome for the GOP considering a presidential election is looming. With Trump leading in all the polls and his sniping at other Republican candidates weaknesses , the religious right/TP's inane insistence on "no compromise", a rather weak gaggle of presidential wanna-be's and this incident, things don't bode well for them.
