College grads take lower pay or give jobs to migrants (http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2015/aug/23/h1b-visa-foreign-competitors-next-cubicle/)

College students pay more for their education yet command a lower salary after graduation because of our uncontrolled borders.

San Diegans already know full well that foreigners are competing for their jobs. They don’t need national politicians from Donald Trump to Bernie Sanders telling them to worry.

Consider the recent blowback from layoff decisions of two prominent regional companies, Qualcomm and Southern California Edison.

The layoffs highlighted a controversial corner of immigration policy occupied by H-1B visas, which allow companies to hire foreign workers for up to six years in “specialty” occupations such as software, engineering, biotech or even fashion modeling.

It's a national disgrace.

Bobby jindal called republicans the party of stupid.

But democrats are just as bad or worse.

Combine the two major parties and the libertarians who all support open borders and free trade to one degree or another and we have clearly become the nation of stupid.

I disagree with the libertarians on open borders. That would only work if we had no welfare system.

Do you realize that these visa status imports aren't illegal? A wall of iron wouldn't stop them from coming in (being brought in to be more specific).

That's when they can get jobs

I'm not sure that illegals from Mexico, central, and south America are getting those degree jobs like engineers, nurses, IT Specialist, Paralegal, and all the other quick certification courses.

Last time I went to the dentist, I don't think the hygienist spoke in broken English.

You disagree?

That at least is consistent with the policy of the nonaligned ska "independent" forum members here who join nothing and so can never be blamed when anything goes wrong

Popular wisdom says that many illegals arrive here legally with student or tourist visas and never leave.

And you are correct that most of them are not uneducated Mexican
peasants.

I think it depends on the job and the circumstances. I know some grads, like myself, take lower paying jobs because sometimes it's the only way to start getting real world experience in the line of work that you want to be in or it's to help provide some sort of an income while you apply for jobs in your chosen field. It also depends on where you live, how much of a market there is for the type of job you want, and things like that. If you live in a small city that has limited jobs available then you may have to move in order to find the type of job you want, and to move you need money a lot of the times and so you take a basic job where you are to help fund that eventual move. Ultimately if you want to be a teacher or a nurse or a biologist or an engineer or a railroad worker you sometimes have to figure out where those jobs are at in relation to where you currently live if there is nothing available and take a chance.

That is a funny theory. When you get older, after a decade or more of being jerked off by the GOP maybe you will leave it too.

That has happened always in USA. For this reason has been so successful. Because American companies has been good importing international talents.

It's funny that, considering the replies so far, people think the article is about illegal Mexicans.

if 5hey had read it, it's about legal immigrants from India and other countries brought here under a program George Bush initiated.

If you're done patting yourself on the back I'll suggest that your point was generally understood.

To take that point further, I'm not sure how many people are opposed to legal immigration in the sense that these immigrants are becoming productive members of society versus herds of flea infested vermin flocking across our borders to freeload off of our prosperity.
