The difference is that you could give two sh!ts about the plane crash dead because they were the baby killing military personnel and their helper contractors. The college kids were real people trying to soak up some lib professors words and supposedly save the planet.

Fuck. I for one am tired about reading this story week after week.
According to some it's not a piece of sand. It's forested and stuff. Therefore worth fighting for on the ground.
Bottom line? Afghanistan had a couple of natural resources in metals but nothing worth expending the money and lives we are expending. We can neutralize the Talibans effectiveness through simple drone strikes. Sounds good to me.

Those are designated AC-130s. (C for cargo, A for attack in the designation.)
Do we know if the plane went down under fire, or otherwise due to enemy action? I haven't seen any detail on this plane going down.

I feel for the families. Yet explain to me the sense of SHOCK that an enemy in a country we have invaded and occupied for years would shoot down a plane? This very enemy was the one that came to power following our 1980's war games in Afghanistan.

The lone blip that I've seen on this crash in print says that the C-130 went down upon takeoff from Jalalabad Airport, completely within the limits of the base. We have a count of crew & passengers KIA, the number of civilians or Afghans on the ground KIA or wounded is unclear - the responsibility for determining that is apparently being pushed off onto the Afghan gov.
An investigation is being launched. As the plane & aircrew were US (TMK), I assume that US agencies (FAA? some military equivalent?) will investigate. @ least all the debris should be accessible, & being on base, I figure that access to the crash site will be restricted on a need-to-enter basis.
No one is saying that the plane went down as a result of enemy action.
