Paul Ryan considering running for House speaker (http://edition.cnn.com/2015/10/09/politics/house-speaker-race-paul-ryan/index.html)
He would be a good fit for the job, but I am not sure why he would want to take it.

Rep. Paul Ryan is telling House Republicans privately he is considering running for speaker, several members say.

Ryan informed several members on the House floor of his deliberations, Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, told CNN. Stewart added that he urged Ryan to run, with the Wisconsin Republican replaying that he was "thinking and praying on it."

Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who shocked Capitol Hill (http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/08/politics/house-speaker-republican-vote-mccarthy-webster-chaffetz/index.html)by deciding Thursday not to try and succeed retiring Speaker John Boehner, also said Ryan is weighing a run.

I don't see Ryan being much different than Boehner.

Actually where Ryan is today, he has real power. The speaker makes assignments. If we lose Ryan off of Budget, who knows what would happen next. This guy is a wiz on budgets.

Probably a good idea, I imagine he'd get votes from all sides that would give him a pretty comfortable landslide for the Speaker position. Plus, he's largely uncontroversial and other than disagreeing with his legislative choices, it's hard to really find a reason to dislike the guy.

He also seems classier than Boehner.

I believe he would be far different than Boehner. I think he would be far less likely to simply capitulate to Obama like Boehner did much of the time. Plus he'd be a much more effective communicator.
