So, the CNN debate is over, and Bernie won by a landslide...

And the only Candidate up there with any possible chance of winning the general election was Jim Webb.

Webb was the only candidate to show the kind of mien needed for Presidential decorum.

So, it will be President Trump in 2016.

Anyone have a guess who Trump will select as V.P. ?

Trump is a bit old, it might matter, allot.

Trump is 69.

Hillary will be 68 next week.

He's 15 months older than her.

Sanders is 114, so he's really too old IMO.

Men don't live as long a women, on average.

All of them are geezers.

I hope Trump goes for Cruz.

Having a TEA Patriot in the offing for 2020 would be grand.

The double standard between the two major parties is sickening.

McCain was ripped apart because of his age, too old to be president. Romney ridiculed because of his religion, crazy Mormon undies. Palin destroyed because of her daughter's baby out of wedlock, they are low class rednecks.

Bernie Sanders, the apparent winner tonight among the Dems, is 74, not a young man, he's Jewish, that will be first (not a WASP) and he has an illegimate son, Levi., whom he had with a girlfriend.

I wonder if any of that will be plastered all over the airwaves like they crucified the GOP candidates?

How much does Sanders really matter?

In two years, he'll be forgotten as that kookie old defeated guy when Trump won.

Meh... If the Dems had enough sense to put forth Webb, there might have been a real battle. Its a done deal now.

The only chance the Dems have now, is if Sanders picks Webb as V.P., and then a month before the election, Sanders dies of a heart attack.

I'm not super thrilled by Trump, but the guy is a leader, is not afraid to speak out against political correctness, and he's from the outside track.

The Winner of the Debate Was the Democratic Party And AmericaNow that the first Democratic debate is over, the contrast between Democrats and Republicans could not be clearer. Democrats showed Tuesday night they want to give people the means to be successful and are optimistic about the future of our country after a dismal start to this century. They had absolutely no problem linking themselves to President Obama’s star, so maybe some other 2016 candidates (Hey there Senate races!) will follow suit. The Democrats explained how they want to give every American hope and the ability to take part in this experiment called the United States. They want to show that America can once again be the democratic example to lead the world.

The Democrats running for president don’t want to exclude anyone or put up walls that keep people out. A wall symbolizes a vision for America that places limits on what you can be. Democrats want you to have a chance, even if you’re from a poor neighborhood or from a broken home or considered a minority.

Republicans running for president want you to be afraid. Fearful of people who aren’t like you. Fearful the next problem will become a crisis. So fearful that you become untrustworthy and only include a small circle of people in your hopes and dreams. There is no nuance in these Republicans’ worlds, only right or wrong, yes or no, left or right. Democrats showed Tuesday night that they understand that life and lives are complicated and worthy of our compassion.

These Republicans want you to be on your own and let “the market” decide your fate. This approach promotes selfishness, which is not what America needs now or ever. It’s sad, because Republicans weren’t always like this.

Finally, the Democrats running for president showed America that having policy prescriptions rather than simplistic ideologies to address America’s challenges promotes the kind of discussion that leads to solutions rather than demagoguery.

Jim Webb and Lincoln Chafee need to withdraw. Neither man looked prepared or ready to operate at the top three’s level. Chafee’s answer about not one but two of his votes while in the Senate — I was just sworn in and voted with the overwhelming majority — was smack-your-forehead bad. Like Rick Perry bad. If Chafee had been even a semi-serious candidate he would have sabotaged his campaign with that answer.

Chafee's response sounded exactly like Belushi's response to Carrie Fisher's character in the sewer, in Blue's Brothers. I expected "the dog ate my homework" somewhere in the list of excuses.

Peter1469

Webb received the Navy Cross for actions on July 10, 1969. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Webb#Awards_and_decorations) The citation read:

The Navy Cross is presented to James H. Webb, Jr., First Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving as a Platoon Commander with Company D, First Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division (Reinforced), Fleet Marine Force, in connection with combat operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Vietnam). On July 10, 1969, while participating in a company-sized search and destroy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Search_and_destroy)operation deep in hostile territory, First Lieutenant Webb's platoon discovered a well-camouflaged bunker complex that appeared to be unoccupied. Deploying his men into defensive positions, First Lieutenant Webb was advancing to the first bunker when three enemy soldiers armed with hand grenades jumped out. Reacting instantly, he grabbed the closest man and, brandishing his .45 caliber pistol (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1911_pistol) at the others, apprehended all three of the soldiers. Accompanied by one of his men, he then approached the second bunker and called for the enemy to surrender. When the hostile soldiers failed to answer him and threw a grenade that detonated dangerously close to him, First Lieutenant Webb detonated a claymore mine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M18_Claymore_mine) in the bunker aperture, accounting for two enemy casualties and disclosing the entrance to a tunnel. Despite the smoke and debris from the explosion and the possibility of enemy soldiers hiding in the tunnel, he then conducted a thorough search that yielded several items of equipment and numerous documents containing valuable intelligence (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_intelligence) data. Continuing the assault, he approached a third bunker and was preparing to fire into it when the enemy threw another grenade. Observing the grenade land dangerously close to his companion, First Lieutenant Webb simultaneously fired his weapon at the enemy, pushed the Marine away from the grenade, and shielded him from the explosion with his own body. Although sustaining painful fragmentation wounds from the explosion, he managed to throw a grenade into the aperture and completely destroy the remaining bunker. By his courage, aggressive leadership, and selfless devotion to duty, First Lieutenant Webb upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of the United States Naval Service.[23] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Webb#cite_note-HomeofHeroes-23)

Common Sense

I don't think the left or the MSM would downplay or criticize him for his service. He just hasn't been a popular candidate. I don't think his military background has anything to do with it.
