A Tulane University medical student saw his life threatened and then saved Friday morning, when a robber shot him in the stomach and then tried to put a bullet in his head — but the gun jammed.
The attack and miraculous survival of Peter Gold, 25, was captured on a surveillance camera. Gold is still recovering from the shooting, which happened after he heroically intervened in an apparent robbery, NOLA.com (http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2015/11/police_release_video_of_tulane_1.html) reported.
Gold stopped his car and got out after seeing a man dragging a woman toward a car around 4 a.m., police said.

That is my home town. You got to watch for the criminals there. I had a group who wanted to mug me and I said no. Got a black eye and concussion. The man suspected of dragging a woman down a New Orleans street and shooting a medical student who tried to intervene was arrested Monday, authorities said.

Euric Cain, 21, was in custody on Monday afternoon, New Orleans police spokesman Tyler Gamble told NBC News.
