Russia’s President Vladimir Putin called the downing of an Su-24 fighter jet in Syria a stab in the back at a meeting with the King of Jordan Abdullah II in Sochi, Sputnik News reports.
Vladimir Putin said that Russian pilots were in no way a threat to Turkey. “This is an obvious fact.”
The attack on Russia’s Su-24 jet is a “stab in the back”, the president said.
Russia’s president stated that the incident with Su-24 in Syria is beyond regular war against terrorism.
“Our jet fell six kilometers away from the border, within Syrian arispace.”
Russian Su-24 jet was downed with air-to-air missiles from the Turkish F-16 plane, the Russian President said.

The pilots from the Russian Su-24 jet downed in Syrian managed to eject, the Russian Ministry of Defense said, Sputnik News reports.
“The fate of the pilots is being determined. According to initial information, the pilots were able to catapult,” the ministry said.
Meanwhile, the Turkish Dogan news agency has reported that Russian military helicopters were searching for the pilots from the jet downed near Syrian-Turkish border.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian Su-24 Fencer attack jet has crashed in Syria. It was most likely downed by a ground missile, according to the Russian Defense Ministry’s statement.

I have a theory about this.

Let's turn it on it's head for a minute and say that a US pilot was inside of Russian airspace and received a warning to move away. He ignores it. He gets a second warning and ignores that too. By the third warning, wouldn't he be asking for instructions?

Turkey claims they gave 10 warnings. So, this downing was engineered by Putin who was probably recalling his pre-President/Prime Minister role when he was the head of the KGB.

I don't suppose we will ever get to know who the crew were. But I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they have/had no immediate relatives.
