In Jersey City, within hours of two jetliners' plowing into the World Trade Center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river.

But this may not have been a deliberate misrepresentation. A very large number of Arabs, in Gaza--on the West Bank--were cheering at this sight. And it is entirely possible that Mr. Trump may have (accidentally) conflated the two.

I remember that morning quite well. When the first plane hit, yes the thought was that there had been some sort of accident. When the 2nd plane hit on live TV, the commentators on TV, and everyone around me including myself knew that it was an attack.
