PARADE: Which brings to mind your friendship with Bill Clinton. What most surprised you about him? GB: Well, he knows a lot about everything. He's a very knowledgeable, bright man. He sat out here one time, and we talked about every possible [subject]—one after another. BB: But he never said a mean word about anyone. "[My] brother by another mother," the boys call him. But he's very nice—I think he thinks of George as the father he never had. Truthfully. I mean that as a compliment. He's been very thoughtful about calling and he's a good fellow.

A pretty interesting article. I didn't know he was close to Clinton. Bush's legs are paralyzed from a vascular problem. He's 88, he might be the next one to go. Carter is the same age but seems to be in better shape.
Bush was a good looking guy in his younger days

Here he is now.

I'll never forget how screwed over Bush got by the Democrats and the media. A month before Clinton got elected, 90% of the newspapers in the country reported negative news about the economy, even though they were over a year into a recovery. A month later, after Clinton beat Bush, only 14% of the newspaper headlines reported negatively on the economy. What changed?
And let's not forget the treatment Bush received after he tried to work with Democrats and broke his pledge to not raise taxes. I hope it will always be a lesson to Republicans of what can happen when you compromise.
