OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A former police officer convicted of raping and sexually victimizing women while on his beat in a low-income Oklahoma City neighborhood was ordered Thursday to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Jurors had recommended that Daniel Holtzclaw be sentenced to 263 years in prison for preying on women in 2013 and 2014. District Judge Timothy Henderson agreed, said Holtzclaw will serve the terms consecutively and denied his request for an appeal bond.

Holtzclaw waived his right to remain in custody in the county jail for 10 days, instead opting to be taken directly to prison. Defense attorney Scott Adams said Holtzclaw "is going to pursue his appellate rights, which he is entitled to."

Holtzclaw was convicted last month on 18 counts, including four first-degree rape counts as well as forcible oral sodomy, sexual battery, procuring lewd exhibition and second-degree rape. He was acquitted on 18 other counts.

What is he crying for? Oh yeah, he's going to find out what it felt like for his victims, over and over. He knows exactly what he's in for, because he's done it.

He has so much time to do he is never getting out. So if he knows how to fight, there are no limits. He can hit a guard just to get solitary.

I don't find it acceptable to advocate or ignore prison rape - no one should be raped, even someone like the trash in the OP.

200 year sentence for rape?

A cop who was raping women in a low-income neighborhood in Oklahoma go a 200 (+) year sentence recently.

Well, you know what that kind of sentence is going to do, right?

It sends the message: If you rape someone, you might just as well kill her, because you will get the same sentence as a murderer. In fact, I know of cases where first degree murderers didn’t get that much time, didn’t get even half that.

Dumb!

So, what should the sentence have been?

Wasn't it like 12 people?

He was convicted of like 14 counts and 18 counts were dismissed. 200 years for that many offenses isn't really unreasonable.

They should tattoo "I was a cop " on his forehead before he goes to general population.

If I had that jail time, the first thing I would do in general population is pick one guy and break his neck.

If you don't forgive, you will not be forgiven, says Jesus

That said, all sinners pay for their sins, but not usually to the full extent in THIS life. Even if you are a Christian and forgiven, you pay 4 your sins in the next life. Maybe that is why Jesus said so few make it to Heaven (so few truly repent).

This sends the message to all that if you rape, you might as well kill the victim afterwards. This is NOT good

rape is horrible. It is death-lke. But it is NOT to be equated with murder

Not really. If the guy had it in him to kill people he would have.

Being both an ex-cop and a sex offender, might he not end up in protective custody i.e. not in general population.

I think rape isn't nearly enough for this scumbag.

Interesting that you think differently.

Not only shouldn't prison rape and other violence be ignored but just how in the hell does so much of it happen in the first place? Prison "culture" kills almost all hope of rehabilitation for those who might otherwise be rehabilitated .
Put up some damned cameras and when they're not on camera, like in the shower, have them be in there alone.. It ain't rocket surgery.
