"The e-mail in question has four sections redacted in the body, two of which are explicitly marked as SECRET. The declassification date is 5/27/2036, exactly twenty-five years after the original transmission of the message — indicating that the information within it was classified at that time, not by the Inspector General or the State Department as a precaution on its discovery within the system."

"And oh, by the way — the top of this document shows Hillary transmitting the classified information to someone in the State Department from her “hrod17” account. That would be another potential violation of 18 USC 793, as well as 18 USC 1924 via the unauthorized retention of this information on Hillary’s private e-mail server in her home. That joins more than 1,300 other examples of violations of the criminal statutes regarding transmission and retention of classified information."

Back to the drawing board boys.

There's even a copy of the email at the link.

Actually, there is nothing in the Hill article that indicates the e-mail was marked classified at the time Kerry sent it or Clinton received it. Rather -

"As a senator, Secretary of State John Kerry sent at least one email to Hillary Clinton from his personal account that has now been classified as secret, the State Department confirmed on Tuesday."

Any chance you folks could stop pestering everyone about this sometime within our lifetimes ?

Yep; in liberal loony land, Hillary is too stupid to recognize "classified" e-mails unless someone has marked them as such.

I can't imagine a weaker or more moronic defense.

Well, the originator of this thread said quite plainly that the e-mail sent by Kerry was MARKED classified at the time, when there appears to be absolutely no evidence of that. Of course he read it on a right wing site, so I suppose that is his excuse.

The actual e-mail quite clearly reads that it was classified on Jan 29, 2016.

Will you people please leave the rest of us alone, or get more proficient at what you are doing ?

You don't read well do you ?? The declassification date is 5/27/2036, exactly twenty-five years after the original transmission, that's -27-2010 Mark III.

Obviously they back date the declassification date to correspond to 25 years from the original transmission. So what ?

You said it was marked classified at the time. It wasn't. There is absolutely no evidence of that, and in fact the e-mail has a box that shows it was classified a few days ago.

Get your shit together.

This is embarrassing for TPF.

If the e-mail had been marked classified in 2011, that is the date that would have appeared following the word "on" .

Obviously this is another of the "born classified" assertions, which are in dispute.

He was in error; but that doesn't deflect from the FACT that having a marking does not excuse the improper handling of classified information, particularly when it is being kept on a PRIVATE unsecured email server.....does it?

State Department guidelines on classification are actually pretty clear on the nature of documents that are classified upon origin and do not need to be so marked.

Apparently you keep missing the point completely, either deliberately or stupidly; the point is that they BACK DATED the classification which means it was indeed "classifed" when it was kept on Hillary's private e-mail server....a direct violation of Federal law.

Truth Defector, if you could think clearly, you would know that there is a dispute over what should have or shouldn't have been classified. That is really at the heart of all this. How are you going to indict someone for not seeing that something was classified when she (and other people) doesn't agree that it should be classified ?

You are like a hamster on a wheel going around and around to no purpose.

How ironic that you call me Truth Defector when you're too dimwitted to comprehend that there is NO DISPUTE.

The e-mails have been determined to be CLASSIFIED and the only ones refuting this is the incometent moron and her corrupt partisan allies you are trying, and failing, to defend.
