And they lead the way in curtailing the excesses of the rich.

And the rich French respond by wanting to become Belgians. Who have had to be saved by everyone since the dawn of time.


In response to the news that France's richest man has applied for Belgian nationality (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/francois-hollande/9532131/Bernard-Arnault-applies-for-Belgian-citizenship-as-Francois-Hollande-plans-new-taxes.html), the country's leading left-wing daily has declared: "get lost, you rich bastard!"*The forthright headline, emblazoned across today's front page of Libération, is aimed at Bernard Arnault, CEO of the luxury fashion conglomerate LMVH. Arnault applied for Belgian nationality after the socialist president François Hollande proposed a new 75 per cent tax rate on earnings over one million euros. He denies he is trying to avoid tax, but Libération nonetheless condemns his decision as "a symbol of the arrogance of the wealthiest".
The headline is actually a play (http://www.newstatesman.com/blogs/business/2012/09/french-newspaper-frances-richest-man-get-lost-you-rich-bastard#) on a famous gaffe made by the former president, Nicholas Sarkozy, who muttered "casse-toi, pov' con" ("get lost, you poor bastard") at a member of the public who refused to shake his hand. The phrase subsequently became a taunt taken up by Sarkozy's left-wing opponents.

Very quirky and adaptable ---yet so clean and tidy . There are not many countries the size of a postage stamp that can fight daily over identity and line up in battle as Flemish and Walloons .
When they decide to speak it could be in Flemish , French , German , Dutch or English .
They would not tolerate humourless and insular Americans , however wealthy they pretend to be .

That's an interesting new piece of research you have found .
The results show that had it not been for France , America would not be bankrupt .
It does confirm my notion that Americans are rather gullible and weak willed but I am pleased to see that there is at least one of you happy to blame the real culprits of your Government and Military ----- the effing French .

The French led the way with words. They had no ability to support al Qaeda with regime change in Libya on their own. The US helped out with that. And now al Q killed our ambassador. That is hope and change for you.
