The fiction is the 8.1 percent unemployment rate. How that was "achieved" is the reality, it was achieved because people gave up looking for work, a trend that is continuing and will probably accelerate into the Fall. What is really going on is also demonstrated by stagnant/falling gasoline consumption.

Quick Notes About the Unemployment Rate
US Unemployment Rate -.2 to 8.1%
This month the number of people employed fell by 119,000.
In the last two months, the number of people employed fell by 314,000!
In the last year, the civilian population rose by 3,695,000. Yet the labor force only rose by 971,000.
This month the Civilian Labor Force fell by 368,000.
Last month, those "not" in the labor force increased by 348,000 to 88,340,000, another record high.
This month we set another record high with a whopping 581,000 dropping out of the labor force. If you are not in the labor force, you are not counted as unemployed.
In the last year, those "not" in the labor force rose by 2,723,000
Over the course of the last year, the number of people employed rose by 2,347,000.
Participation Rate fell .02 to 63.5%;
There are 8,031,000 workers who are working part-time but want full-time work, a decrease of 215,00. This one the only bright spot in the report.
Long-Term unemployment (27 weeks and over) was 5.033 million a decline of 152,000 (likely an artifact of the decline in the labor force).
Were it not for people dropping out of the labor force, the unemployment rate would be well over 11%.

Unfortunately, the malaise is spreading to Canada.

All major Canadian exports including energy, autos, agriculture, forest products and machinery-and-equipment collapsed in the latest report. Canadian analysts are shocked by the news.

Is Obama and his gang of radicals responsible for all of this? No, but they have become a major driving force by virtue of the damage and uncertainty they are introducing into the U.S. economy.

A prospect for our very well located building in North Dallas candidly told my property manager that they are not going to make a decision until the election and if Obama is re-elected they are not going to expand and take new space. The cost of ObamaCare was mentioned specifically along with the likelihood of new taxes if Obama remains in office.

That's what it is like in the real world as opposed to Cigar's world of government contracts handed out with special favoritism for minorities and women.

You would, for the reason stated. Since you have admitted that you don't know a lot beyond your field of expertise, I wouldn't expect you to understand how the market has been artificially inflated by the various QEs and what is happening in Europe.

Keep posting pictures you don't understand.

Nice picture, Cigar. I do like President Obama's strategy to reduce unemployment to zero by reducing workforce participation to zero. Once everyone is on welfare and government assistance there will be no unemployment. Ah, the workers paradise.
