In the coming months, Republican lawmakers will be fighting tooth and nail against the agenda President Obama laid out during Tuesday's inaugural address: his call to action on equality, immigration reform, reducing gun violence, protecting social programs, addressing climate change and more. And Republican Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan neatly explains (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/23/us/politics/obama-speech-leaves-gop-stark-choices.html) why the upcoming fights might be a problem for the GOP:

The public is not behind us, and that’s a real problem for our party.

Unfortunately, Republicans don't give a damn what the public wants. And that's a real problem for the country.

Why don't we have an election and let the public decide what they want? That will solve all the questions and prove to be the only poll that counts.

Really Einstein? Then how do you explain the historic losses in the house, senate and govornerships?

Think before you post Cigar, I know you find it challenging but I think you can do it.

65% of the country believes that we are on the wrong track.

That would mean they disagree with Obama's policies. The GOP is right to oppose his new spending and programs. This person may be a Rino republican, but he for sure is a progressive.

Progressives are what went wrong with the GOP

If the public wants to forcibly take money from one person and hand it to another, you're right... that's a real problem for the country.

Some of the population believe that the GOP also wants to forcibly take money from one person and hand it to another, just a different set of people.

They tend to be people who don't pay taxes to begin with who are upset with any kind of tax break for corporations. They also tend to be complete black hole stupid, economic ignoramuses who believe the kid standing behind the counter saying "may I take your order" is actually worth $15.00 an hour. Oh, they also believe a $15.00 an hour employee actually only costs an employer $15.00 per hour.

So you are OK with instruments like NAFTA moving jobs out of America or the government bankrolling the banks that are too big to fail, or legislation that gives companies like Monsanto a virtual monopoly on the seed industry and the ability to bankrupt farmers? Are you also OK with the Fed being controlled by banks that are members of multinational banking corporations? American sovereignty is gradually being outsourced. Are you OK with that?

Oppressive taxes and regulations accomplish the outsourcing all on their own.

You mean by not taxing someone who has money it is the same as giving them money.

but it isnt.

Their money is not your money to take whenever you want it

When was the last time that Washington cared if the public was behind them or not?

Of course and it's not just the Dems, it's also the Reps who both worship at the feet of the multi-national corporations.
