Possible SCOTUS nominiees (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/here-are-the-five-judges-the-white-house-is-considering-for-the-supreme-court/2016/03/06/2e785858-e0a4-11e5-9c36-e1902f6b6571_story.html)

Obama has a short list, not complete, that includes moderate federal judges, and no ideologues.

The White House is considering nearly a half-dozen relatively new federal judges for President Obama’s nomination to the Supreme Court, focusing on jurists with scant dis*cern*ible ideology and limited judicial records as part of a strategy to surmount fierce Republican opposition.

The candidates under consideration include two judges who joined the influential U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in 2013, Sri Srinivasan and Patricia A. Millett; Jane L. Kelly, an Iowan appointed that year to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit; Paul J. Watford, a judge since 2012 on the California-based U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit; and a lower-court judge, Ketanji Brown Jackson, appointed in 2013 to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

He might as well take his short list and try and trade it in for a Starbucks because that's about how much its worth.

His job is to nominate someone.

His job is to nominate someone.

And it's the job of the GOP to prevent an appointment, which is why the GOP as a party is going down the drain because those who stood behind it for the last seven years have seen backward instead of forward progress and they are fed up with it.

I can certainly understand why you would not want an existing Democrat president to nominate but you would tear out the throats of Democrats if the position was reversed and a Republican president were to do the same.

No need to worry. The destruction of the GOP will ensure that won't happen for another 24 years.

Most people can't name a Justice.

You do understand that the GOP has won everything but the Whitehouse don't you? The GOP has more state house's and Gov's Mansions than anytime in History and the largest majority in the house they have ever had?

Yes we have lost 2 Presidential races in a row, and it could very well be 3, but that has happened to the Democrats twice in my lifetime.

Sri Srinivasan's name comes up a lot. So, I wouldn't at all be surprised if that gentleman was the one President Obama picked. It would bring a good balance to the court.

If you can't see that Mr and Mrs Average America are fed up with the people they elected not doing what they promised when they asked for the vote, then there is no hope for you. Which is why they are prepared to let a non politician ruin what is left of the US. At least the voters can then claim he was given a chance to do something but genuinely failed because they bought into what turned out to be his empty promises.
