Disenchanted Koch Brothers Plan To Skip The Republican Convention
By Lauren Fox

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/charles-koch-won-t-attend-gop-convention

"The Koch brothers won't be touching the Republican National Convention with a 10-foot poll, according to a recent ABC report (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/charles-koch-skipping-convention-paul-ryan-gops-white/story?id=38633798)."

"They and their major fundraising network will be staying at home, ABC reported."

"Koch had also told ABC News in an interview released previously that it is "possible" Democrat Hillary Clinton is preferable to the GOP's eventual nominee."

==============================
Thanks to Talking Points Memo for this report.

Imho, If it is"possible" it can't be impossible! Thanks for that, Charlie!

You and your bros. are wise to not want to help the RNC. You are their major money-bags to any Republican election. But after all, they have obviously been a great disappointment to many and have not presented you with candidates that you can feel comfortable supporting. That is very telling and speaks volumes about the situation. And many other Republicans feel just as you do, including those who have said they are leaning heavily on supporting Hillary Clinton instead. KUDOS to them for that!

The GOP doesn't represent libertarians. The GOP doesn't even represent fiscal conservatives.

They probably have something better to do.

You're right! They're probably quite busy at the moment trying to get Hillary elected by de facto. :)

Was going to say, they're libertarian, fund the Cato Institute, and all. Why would they go to a convention of establishment types vying for control vs a Nationalist Populist? --Just realized that describes both parties.

I don't think it's surprising the Koch brothers might support the candidate that can most easily be bought.

Again, these guys are libertarians.... The GOP has nothing for them. What would they do at the convention?

Put Scott Walker's name in nomination?

This time last year their song was a little different:

'Two of the most prominent and influential megadonors in the Republican Party reportedly have picked their man in the 2016 presidential race: Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R).

According to The New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2015/04/20/koch-brothers-signal-support-for-scott-walker/), David Koch told a Monday gathering of GOP donors that he and his fellow billionaire brother, Charles Koch, want Walker in the White House.
"We will support whoever the candidate is," Koch said at the Manhattan event, according to Times reporter Nick Confessore's sources. "But it should be Scott Walker."

The Koch brothers are two of the most free-spending donors in American politics, and they have a vast network of rich allies to help fund their various political organizations. Indeed, they reportedly plan on spending close to $1 billion in 2016 (http://www.businessinsider.com/r-koch-brothers-political-network-planning-889-million-of-spending-in-2016-2015-1), and liberals have long sought to make them the face of a broken campaign finance system.
Several Republican candidates were also thought to be aggressively pursuing the Kochs' support. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Kentucky), Marco Rubio (R-Florida), and Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) all joined Walker at a Koch donor confab in January (http://www.businessinsider.com/koch-brothers-2016-meeting-in-florida-2015-1). Rule 40, which states that the only candidates eligible to be in contention at a contested convention are candidates who have the support of a majority of delegates in at least eight states across the map. Also, keep in mind that the RNC could propose changes to these rules at any point between now and the convention, so the 8-state rule might be moot.

Besides the Kochs aren't even registered republican so no chance they would be a broker.

The. GOP has intentionally distanced itself from their conservative base. So called moderates took charge of The party and they are embarrassed by true conservatives.

They did this to build a new "big tent" party which would be all things to all people.

Trump never filed bankruptcy. He had 3 or 4 companies declare bankruptcy. Most associated with Atlantic City. He was smart to get out while the getting is good. That place has dropped to junk bond status.

You don't know much about the business world do you?
