Canadiana is for any form of music but it must be Canadian, either author or performer.....
And of, course, we absolutely must begin with Canada's sweetheart, Anne Murray.....

These guys used to front an obscure Country Singer who traveled throughout the Southern Ontario area, from Windsor to London to Waterloo. They had no name and when a less-than obscure Folk singer, Bob Dylan, who'd gone electric wanted to hire them he asked them their name.....

He's a great guy! I met him when my friends from California and I were at Expo, eating at an outdoor cafe and he sat down alone at the table next to us. He was little more than a kid then.
My friends had no idea who he was and invited him to join us. He did. He said nothing about himself but asked them all about Palo Alto etc. Then I told them who he was, they looked a bit confused and he rescued them by reaching into his back pocket and gave us all tickets to that night's concert.
I never saw him again, but my AA sponsor knew him well and often said he was one of the nicest men he had ever met.

Toronto is our favorite spot for a weekend getaway. My wife and I honeymooned in Canada, believe it or not.
We live about 3 hours drive from the Peace Bridge and we spend weekends in Toronto or (Canadian) Niagara Falls. Spent a weekend there this past Springtime.
My wife's not a big drinker, but I remember hitting a place in Guelph, forgot the name of the place - a hotel, they brewed their beer on site. I carried her out of there on my shoulder like a gunstrap.
We were driving up to Toronto one late Friday night and we got sort of lost in the middle of nowhere. Late, after midnight (all the streets are named "King Street") in the middle of cornfields they have a DUI checkpoint. Zero fucking traffic on this road, but I'm sober and have a car full of wife and kids. The Canadian cop looks into my car and asks me where I'm going. I say Toronto, would appreciate directions and he gives them to me realizing that I'm not a random drunk.
So I do a U-turn in the road on my way and I guess the cop sees my Pennsylvania plates and yells at me as I'm driving away "Go Pens".

I have a lot of great Canadian stories, we're very Canada friendly.
So we go up there one weekend and load the car full of beer and wine. Good Canadian beer, not that Labatts shit. Might have 10 cases of it and maybe 24 bottles of wine.
Going through and back in customs is sometimes a breeze, sometimes not so much.
Coming back the guy (on the US side) asks me if I have anything I need to report. I'm not a liar, I just can't do it so I tell him "I have a car full of beer". He pauses and says "have a nice day".

LOL
Three hours and Pennsylvania would put you near where? Pittsburgh. I grew up south of Buffalo and we crossed the Peace Bridge every other week. I used to go to Niagara Falls all the time and was a Bills fan when there were two leagues, no Superbowl.
Was born near Guelph and that would be the Slemin Brewery, Al Capone's hang out in the 30's. I am actually from Elora, just up the road from Guelph. And yes, all towns in Ontario have a King and a Queen Street.
Yes, our cops are polite, if there was a breathalizer stop in the middle of no where it meant there was an event about to let out nearby or they were using it as an excuse to track someone down. The cops here are way different than the US, except the Mounties are corrupt assholes.....tell you another time about a whole forum, dealing with those pricks after they killed a Polish Immigrant at Vancouver international by tasering him nine times..

Often I would get "where were you born?" And I would say "Kitchener, Ontario." Then they would ask me my nationality and I would say "both". That usually became "interesting".

Kitchener - we spent some time there but my memory is fuzzy. Wife's snoring beside me alas, she would rekindle it.
Trying to remember - Clappison's Corners, we stayed at a motel there ran by Yugoslavian folks. At breakfast they served "pea meal bacon". Great stuff but I've never seen it anywhere since.

Whoa...some serious memories there....used to go through "the cut" at Clapperson's corners all the time...just North of Hamilton. The cut is gone now, they leveled it off...hell of a road then
And Heidleberg is about 15 minutes NE of Kitchener, on the way to Elora.
