“As tensions were escalating between Bernie Sanders and Democratic Party leaders over the chaos caused by his supporters at a Nevada convention, Dick Durbin got an unexpected call from the Vermont senator,” Bloomberg reports.

“Durbin, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, came away from the conversation on Wednesday convinced that Sanders, who has all but lost the presidential nomination battle to Hillary Clinton, understands the need for party unity and will do his part to defeat presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump.”

Bernie isn't going to let the dem establishment steam roll him more than they already have.

That is an interesting idea. It has been on radio for the last several days.

If Clinton/Sanders wins I am going to go back to school for my PhD. I may stay in school until I die in 37 years.

That would be contrary to Bernie's status as an anti-establishment savior to the party. He would go from being loved to being hated over night.

As a democrat, and as a father of not one, not two, but three adult children who are all Bernie supporters, I can tell you that many many Bernie fans would love to see him on the ticket and would keep feeling the bern if he were.

nope. you may or may not speak for your three children, but you don't speak for anyone else.

i would be very disappointed if he were to accept the nomination, and i certainly won't vote for any ticket that has hillary on it.

she is everything that is wrong with american politics, and nothing that is right about them.

i think i may be a little more tuned in to how sanders' people feel, given that i've worked as a volunteer and talk to them every day, but if you want to believe we're all gonna get together and sing kumbaya while we march in lockstep and cast our votes for that harpy, knock yourself out, sparky.

No, he won't.well... not ALL of them, certainly. There will be some idealistic idiots who would rather hand the white house and the next three SCOTUS picks to Donald rather than vote for anyone other than Bernie. I think that by November, all but the thickest of those will have seen the light.

If Hillary picks the next three Justices this country is done for.

Jesus was an "idealistic idiot" who refused to compromise his values. So was Gandhi, and Martin Luther King.

Hillary names Bernie as her VEEP, and he'll bring all of his flock with him.

But it takes the party too far to the left and when both are from the NE makes them an easy target.

Bernie as VP means that the DNC has embraced socialism, and that is an easy target.

Hillary needs this primary to be over soon so she can begin her run to the center. Bernie as VP pushes her further to the left.

I think Sanders will end up throwing his support to Clinton. I also think that some of his supporters will follow his lead. The dem party is not as fractured as the repub party (at this time). They will decide to take what they can get. They also want to defeat Trump by any means necessary. The idealist Sanders' supporters will either vote third party or not vote at all. How do I know? I consulted the Oracle at Delphi and she told me. That is as good as guess as anyone else.

She will wait to see how many of his supporters make the move before she moves left. If they are a force at the convention, expect to see the left blinker click on.
