Appropriate for the times, Guns and Music....
Here we take a look at any and all music that references guns, shooting, hunting or shooting or getting shot [as in guns, not needles - so that leaves out the Rolling Stones].
And so, we begin the evening's entertainment with ...a Canadian entry....
The Guess Who and ...wait for it....Guns, Guns, Guns
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmOVa2a4kIQ
This was written by Guess Who lead singer Burton Cummings as a protest to Canada becoming a trophy hunter's dream...

And even if you aren't crazy about Pat Benetar...this is a great song and video
Takes some kind of jam to get out there with nothing but a microphone and a leotard...!

This next entry is actually three songs put together by the world's greatest record producer - George Martin. I know that I said guns and not needles, but no thread about guns would be complete without...
Happiness is a warm gun....and the late John Lennon...from the untitled "White Album"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE2Vdcv9Q_o
Did anyone know that this song is banned by the BBC for alleged sexual references....I presume the "mother superior jumped the gun."

Ah, thank you gentlemen, good choices...
For our next entry we not only return to Canada, but my neighborhood...Vancouver - well the sub urbs, and a band called 54-40. You will have to know the reference is about where the Canadian border was SUPPOSED to be according to an American political movement with the slogan "54-40 or fight"....
Instead, the 49th Parallel was chosen...
So here is One Gun [added on]

And this, of course, has to be a signature tune for Mark Knopfler...and in my opinion this is the best version of all of them.....live from [I think] Paris..

BTW.....Knopfler was a heavy smoker...a dope smoker, so much so he nearly screwed his throat permanently....his come back is the duet album with Emmylou Harris..

While vacationing in Florida, Eric Clapton picked up a Jamaican radio station on his rented car.....and he heard this tune .....by a guy he'd never heard of.
He started experimenting with the beat and his band picked it up and convinced him to record it...
And history was made as Raggea was introduced to mainstream America...

"gonna get a big dish of beef chow mein".
My wife is into that Kid Rock Zevon/Skynard combo tune, it's her ringtone and my 7yr old knows that song well. We were camping a few months ago and had the camper radio on and Wolves of London came on - he says "hey, I know this song" and was pretty surprised when it didn't go as he expected.

"I have two big hands and a heart pumping blood and a 1967 colt 45 with a busted safety catch. The world shines as I cross the macon county line, going to Georgia."
"The most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway is that it's you-- and that you're standing in the doorway. And you smile as you ease the gun from my hand and I'm frozen with joy right where I stand.
The world throws its light underneath your hair
forty miles from atlanta, this is nowhere
going to Georgia."
