Cigar said it best, it's a very simple choice for the simple-minded: R or D.

Those of us that can think beyond the level of an amoeba recognize that there are more choices and will make those choices.

Or the third party types voting for some loser who has zero chance to win.

that way the wafflers can always blame their troubles on the winning voters

They have little to no chance of winning because every American in the country doesn't have the freedom to hear their message and choose them if they desire it.

So the result is we're stuck with more shitty Clintons and Bushes and Trumps, and the cycle of decline continues.

Bernie came really close ... and I think if he runs as an independent next time, he'll have a better chance to win.

Maybe not your gal but gary johnson ran for the republican nomination in 2012 and had a fair chance to win.

but the voters didnt like him very much

Republican voters evidently like Donald Trump, so their endorsement isn't particularly meaningful.

He ought to run as an independent this time, or at least endorse Jill Stein, but I understand his course of action.
