There Is No Such Thing As President Obama’s War On Police Officers-It is a Republican LIE!There Is No Such Thing As President Obama’s War On Police Officers

This is yet another Republican myth we can add to the growing landfill of right-wing lies.

In the era of President Obama, almost all Republican ideas and talking points are rooted in outright lies or conspiracy theories.

...............................

Now, after a gunman in Dallas killed five police officers, we’re being blessed with yet another tinfoil-hat-wearing argument: President Obama is anti-cop.

The argument is simple and nothing short of crazy.......................

Last year, Obama signed into law the Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu National Blue Alert Act – named after two police officers killed in a 2014 ambush attack. The measure requires instant nationwide “Blue Alerts” that notify law enforcement officers of any impending attacks and help them track down possible suspects trying to carry them out.

At the bill’s signing ceremony last year, Obama said it’s important that “we do everything we can to help ensure the safety of our police officers when they’re in the line of duty.”........................

Yes indeed! I agree! That must be why he sent a delegation representing him to Michal Browns funeral.

The author makes his first mistake here, when he says:

Now, after a gunman in Dallas killed five police officers, we’re being blessed with yet another tinfoil-hat-wearing argument: President Obama is anti-cop.

He's obviously lived under a rock the past seven years or he'd know this accusation is NOT a new one. It started with Obama's knee-jerk response to the officer arresting the Cambridge professor, when he declared that we can image the officer "acted stupidly."

Naturally there would have been on Police Shooting or Killing if wasn't a Black Man in The White House

So of course ... when someone thinks of Killing a Cop, they check to see what color the President is first. :icon_thumright:

You make brain dead sound intelligent.

Obama intentionally put himself on record in several incidents with police, and aligned with the side - without sufficient information, or perhaps because he really didn't give a sh!t what the correct information was - that was proven the at fault party.

When he did so, he abetted a faction of our society which has gotten increasingly violent and activist.

Get you some Zo. Do it now.

It's hard to say. But it doesn't help to have a President fanning flames.

Just because you really really believe something does not make it fact. Not that you'd ever engage in a voyage of self-discovery, and actually have a meaningful dialogue about any of it...

It's which facts he chooses to focus on.

BLM inflames some because it's seen by them as exclusive.

Every time a police officer is killed by a black person, president Obama says that we must be cautious and take pause before we judge the accused. We must carefully determine the killers motivation. Let's not jump to conclusions.

He never urges that same sentiment when a police officer kills a black man. He himself jumps to the conclusion.

Good find.

But actually it says the rates have been dropping for decades:

The Officers Down Memorial Page paints a different picture than conservatives would have the public believe. The site tracks law enforcement officers murdered in the line of duty in real time and shows an average of 101 police officers deliberately killed each year under the Reagan administration. Under George H.W. Bush that number fell to 90, to 81 under Clinton and 72 deaths per year under George W. Bush.

As for the Obama administration, that number has continued to drop. The average number of police murdered during his presidency has fallen to an average 62 deaths each year through 2015. Looking at projections for 2016, that number stays the same.

There are so few officers being killed intentionally that just the Dallas shootings skew the data showing a 44 percent increase. Without the murders this week, the year-over-year rise would only have been 17 percent.

This isn’t about better medical care and quicker response time either. Under Obama’s administration, assaults on police officers have dropped as well. The FBI reports that in 1988, the final year of the Reagan administration, police had 15.9 assaults per every 100 law enforcement officers. However, at the end of the Clinton administration in 2000, that number dropped to 12.7 assaults for every 100 officers. Under the Bush administration, it fell again 11.3. The trend has continued under Obama’s administration. The most recent data from the FBI shows that in 2014 it decreased to 9.0.

I reported yesterday that Despite Media Hysteria, Violent Crime Is At Record Lows (http://thepoliticalforums.com/threads/66296-Despite-Media-Hysteria-Violent-Crime-Is-At-Record-Lows).

So what is Obama and every other politician and pundit and persona talking about how violent things are when they're not.

Obama is still fanning flames needlessly.

I'm not in law enforcement, but my daughter is and she expressed a few times how left out and abandoned they all feel because of the President's words.

If you were an officer and you did the best you could, yet the President stated to the entire nation that we can all believe that an officer "acted stupidly," simply because he arrested a black professor, wouldn't you feel badly?

I don't think Obama MEANT to hurt tens of thousands of people's feelings, but he's made knee-jerk statements too many times to believe that he doesn't bear some animosity toward law enforcement.

I'm not saying that he didn't come by his feelings honestly. His parents were activists that opposed law enforcement on different fronts, but, his parents were nobodies. He's the President of the most powerful nation in the world.

Obama might have signed a law that both houses of Congress passed, but he's also fanned the false narrative that black suspects are unfairly killed by officers, and we have the evidence to show that's not true at all.

When your President jumps the gun and cries foul before the evidence is even in -- he's going to alienate.

We have multiple Police Chiefs across the nation trying to explain how they feel -- how isolated and tossed out to dry.

How do we dismiss ALL of them?

A certain "type" of officer death is down -- the type where an officer is killed in the line of duty as a result of stopping a motorist or serving a summons, trying to arrest a suspect...etc. Those are down because officer safety training and protective gear usage is UP.

But, there is a different type of officer killing that is increasing and is already up 44% just this year.

Targeted ambush killings where the officer was intentionally targeted and slain. For no reason other than he was an officer.
