I have to give obama credit where credit is due. One thing positive his administration has done is Go After Medicare Fraud. Of course he didnt do it to save seniors medicare, he did it to help his Obama care succeed, he stripped hundreds of millions from medicare. None the less hes going after Medicare fraud
This is for those in medicare, you get a statement from medicare monthly on what they paid in procedures and visits for you. READ IT, any fraud by any of your Drs will show up in that statement. Any procedures or treatments that you did not recieve and medicare was billed for is right there. If you see it TURN IT IN TO MEDICARE. Help stop the fraud.
Brooklyn surgeon extracted more than $1M in Medicare billing scheme, preyed on 'elderly, demented, dying' patients
A Brooklyn surgeon perfected a corrupt operation of extracting more than $1 million in fraudulent billings from Medicare for services he never performed on patients, a federal prosecutor said Tuesday.
Dr. Syed Imran Ahmed, specializing in wound care and weight loss procedures, preyed on patients, many of whom were “elderly, demented, or dying,” and turned them into cash cows to fatten his bank account, Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia Notopoulos said in Brooklyn Federal Court.
“He did not take care of patients, he took care of himself by stealing over $1 million from Medicare,” Notopoulos told the jury in her opening statement.
Ahmed, 51, allegedly took advantage of the Medicare system which places trust in doctors to submit truthful claims, billing the government provider of medical insurance for $85 million for some 5,000 surgical procedures from 2011 to 2013. Ahmed treated patients at his offices and hospitals in Brooklyn and Long Island.
But he was unmasked as a cheat by the government's first witness, Vitina
Varrone, who blew the whistle on Ahmed to authorities after her Medicare statement listed 19 surgical procedures during the one week she was treated at Franklin Hospital in Long Island for diarrhea and dehydration.
