U.S. Muslim leaders hope to register a million voters from within their community to help combat what they say is the anti-Muslim stance of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

The United States has only about 3.3 million Muslims, but campaign organizers say Muslim voters could have an outsize impact in swing states that are key to the November general election, such as Virginia and Florida.

"We want the Muslim community to understand that if you give up your rights voluntarily, no one will come and give it back to you," said Osama Abu Irshaid, a member of the board of the U.S. Council of Muslim Organizations, which is spearheading the drive.

Imams have been asked to encourage their congregations to register to vote. Organizers have sent canvassers to college campuses, bus stations and gas stations in Muslim neighborhoods.

Good lets get it on!

If those slugs would report people instead of fearing the revolts within the communities we could be safer.

Can a Muslim be a real American?

If moderate Muslims won't stand up to the Jihadists, moderate Muslims will suffer.

There is a drive to register them. I am sure it includes getting them citizenship.

I would rather live next to a randomly selected Muslim than a randomly selected Republican.

I wonder how long your body and head will remain attached to one another.

I am more likely to die by firearm in a state with a Republican governor than any place else in the world that is not a declared war zone.

"Getting them citizenship" is a predetermined process that most immigrants, if they're following legally, will be on track anyway.

Usually, "registration drives" are simply that -- attempts to register citizens. They typically ask for volunteers to go door-to-door and set up booths. Those volunteers are rarely immigration experts.

But, if they're already citizens, they're probably already registered to vote. For some odd reason, legal immigrant-citizens typically exercise their right to vote in higher numbers than other citizens, which is a shame, because we should all vote.

Muslims who immigrate to America, for the most part are educated enough to know how to register to vote. I am not sure why the Dems think they need hand holding.
