All told, the star-studded first night of the Democratic National Convention (http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/democratic-national-convention-ratings-night-one-bigger-rnc-1201823316/) did indeed top the first night of the Republican National Convention.
An audience of 25.74 million tuned in to ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC and Fox News from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., when those networks were all carrying live coverage, with 8.62 million of those viewers falling into the important-to-cable-news age range of 25-54.
The first night of last week’s RNC drew an audience of 23.02 million, itself up slightly from 2012’s haul of 22.3 million.
Once viewership from other networks Nielsen includes in its final count is added in, the total audience for night one of the 2016 DNC will likely surpass the audience for the first night of both 2012 and 2008’s DNCs (26.2 million and 22.3 million, respectively).

You libs celebrate the tiniest oddest things.

One would think - if one was thinking - that the RNC Convention would spur interest in the process, and there would be a carryover from the last day of the RNC into the first day of the DNC.

Particularly since the RNC had no such lead-in. And particularly since word got out on social media that it was a flipping zoo.

People like me do not view your ideology as dangerous if it gets out. I think it's dangerous if it doesn't.

Kind of like how Hillary spent 22 million on ads up to and during the RNC in an attempt to quell any bump Trump would get.

That resulted in a 6 point overall bump, and 14 points amongst independents, many of whom then went from merely self-described independents to 'likely to vote' self-described independents.

So I say: huzzah! Please continue to get the message of what the Dem Party really stands for out there.

I really am not surprised at this.

You had the Email leaks and people were turning it to see the show. The Democrats did not disappoint.

I tell my dad that all of the time! But this is a better streak than that one was, although I admit that the 90s were painful indeed.

I enjoyed the goodyear blimp tracking the michigan fans abandoning the big house in the 4th quarter last year.

Good times!
