Interesting, that may send a message to his millions of supporters.

The nomination was barely sealed up at the Democratic National Convention before Bernie Sanders, who had campaigned against Hillary Clinton for the party’s nod, went back to being an Independent.

Sanders, who considers himself, officially, an Independent in Congress because his views lean further left than the Democratic party’s platform, caucuses with Democrats. But until declaring an intention to run for the presidency in 2015, he had rarely, if ever, identified as a member of the Democratic Party (he’s been in politics since 1979).
And now, despite pleading with his base to support Hillary, even though they’re concerned that she’s too moderate, Sanders will return to Vermont and to his seat in the Senate (http://fusion.net/story/329994/bernie-sanders-independent/), and he’ll do it with no official party affiliation.

I see this as further evidence of the fraud that is the Democratic Party. Too bad the willful idiots who support him and the DNC lack the intelligence to figure that out.

he didn't "go back" to being an independent. He never stopped being an independent.

He's lost the one thing many of us liked about him, his credability. Well no doubt he lost more than that to the soul sucking DNC though

They're going to try like hell all week to manufacture some drama and misdirection ... kinda like The Donald :biglaugh:

I don't blame them ... it's a good idea.

He doesn't have the integrity to run as a Socialist. "Independent" plays better with the feel good skulls of mush leftist.

I wonder.

Do all you stupid Progressives actually think your platforms will continue to "progress" and never end up communist?

Will you be done being "progressive" before - or after - that point?

Yeah, sort of like how Trump isn't actually a Republican.

I do not believe that the end of the arc of progressive liberalism is communism. I do believe that people like you who use the "C" word really don't have much understanding of communism or socialism or progressive liberalism and the distinct differences between them. To you, they are all just epithets. After a while, reading that uninformed, reactionary tripe that spews from folks like you gets really tedious and boring.

It reflects more on Sanders himself. He knew that he had no chance to have any impact as a third party candidate. He also knew that he couldn't run as a socialist and gain any traction.

He clearly defines what it means to be a political prostitute.

Sanders running as a democrat resulted in the most progressive platform for that party is a half a century.

One thing the Progressives are extremely good at is making up definitions. Sanders called himself an Independent, he switched to calling himself a Democrat in order to run against Hillaroid. He lost so now HE WENT BACK TO CALLING HIMSELF AN INDEPENDENT.

The people know what words mean even if the Progressives do not.
