There has been a pattern of violent rhetoric coming from some on the right. We've seen GOP members say thinly veiled violent things and we've seen numerous examples here of people calling for the execution of Clinton and for the killing of muslims.

The left hasn't been innocent, but the majority of this rhetoric comes from the right.

I don't think politicians are purposely trying to make literal "targets" when they present this type of thing. Unfortunately, it's easy to be interpreted as such especially if you're a sociopath with extremist ideals (right, left, religious, whatever).

This is something that we have to stop doing. There should not be one person that does not understand that the Targets fro the Democrats and the Crosshairs for the GOP were not, nor were they designed to be death threats.

We have to agree that Hillary in Talking about Bobby Kennedy's assignation and Trump when talking about the Second Amendment supporters were not talking about murder.

The GOP and DNC were targeting congressional races that they thought were in play, nothing more. and while certainly Clinton and Trump could have chosen better words, these were not death threats.

What we have is a media in conjunction with a Government seeking more and greater power. Trying to turn the people against each other.

The Truth will not come from the media, only propaganda. And the Truth will not be spoken by our current crop of politicians.

It is up to the people to say enough and stop the madness.

Agree, only psychopathic idiots would interpret Clinton, Palin, Trump as advocating violence.

If Democrats would stop shooting people, crime would plummet in this country 75%.

Anyone who thinks Trump was "just joking" about shooting Clinton is missing the pointAt a Tuesday rally, Donald Trump said something that could easily be interpreted as a call for violence against a future Clinton administration.

"Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment," Trump said. "By the way, and if she gets to pick — if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know."

As is common with Trump, it’s unclear exactly what he’s saying — whether it’s a call for assassination, armed insurrection, or something else entirely. But one thing that people have debated a lot after the comment is whether it was a "joke" or meant seriously.

But in a certain sense, it doesn’t really matter what Trump intended. This tweetstorm, from Dallas lawyer Jason P. Steed, explains why. Before becoming a lawyer, Steed was an English professor. He wrote his PhD dissertation on "the social function of humor" and found something important: Jokes about socially unacceptable things aren’t just "jokes." They serve a function of normalizing that unacceptable thing, of telling the people who agree with you that, yes, this is an okay thing to talk about.

This, Steed explains, is why "it’s a joke" isn’t a good defense of racist jokes. By telling the joke, the person is signaling that they think racism is an appropriate thing to express. "Just joking" is just what someone says to the people who don’t appreciate hearing racist stuff — it shouldn’t matter any more than saying "no offense" after saying something offensive. Likewise, Trump is signaling that assassinating Hillary Clinton and/or her Supreme Court nominees is an okay thing to talk about. He’s normalizing the unacceptable.

The left can pound sand. They actually defended a movie about assassinating Bush. Get bent.
