View Full Version : If Sarah Palin were the running VP.....

My family and I were discussing if poll results would be better or worse for Romney if Sarah Palin were part of the ticket. Personally, I think she would hurt him more than Ryan.
Thoughts??

Then I'd vote for Romney. To me she better represents my views and principles, a sort of basic down-home tea party smaller government, less taxes, more liberty politician, she has, to me, a certain charisma, brings an excitement to politics.
I'll bet few share that, and I don't just mean libs who will jab and jabber at her, but Republicans.
Ryan I was initially impressed with, his hero was Ayn Rand, but he backed away from that; he was all about cutting spending, but it turned out cutting increases in spending, not the same. I may change my mind when he debates what's his name, we'll see.

I have nothing against Palin but she would hurt him more than help.

As a proud member of The Tea Party I must say that I believe Sarah Palin would be a better compliment to Mitt Romney, but I don't think that it would necessarily "help" his poll results. I would love to see her run her own presidential campaign someday. Eventually we will need to restore America's freedoms and original values, no doubt about that. But a lot of those on the left don't like freedom or wholesome American values. That's a problem right now. I feel like Romney/Ryan is a much better team FOR AMERICA AS IT CURRENTLY STANDS than a Romney/Palin team would be. Too much freedom too fast scares some of the people on the left who still want everything to be cradle to grave regulation and mandates to keep people "in chains" as Joe Biden would say.

I think she messed up when she ran with McCain. She also needs to think out her responses before speaking. I agree with her values and think she would be a good leader but she needs to tone it down. JMHO

I didn't really answer the main OP question, but agree with roadmaster and GrassrootsConservative she, Palin, probably wouldn't help, might hurt, might be seen even as a publicity stunt, by the media anyway.

I do share that actually. I think she was scape goated by SNL and the media. She did gaffe, but the focus on her wardrobe was a bit over the top.
Had none of that happened, she would definitely help Romney.
I suggest she has had it with politics. She and her family's lives were turned inside out and cross examined like no other politician in history.
Now if Obama had been examined half as much as she......

She certainly would have kept us amused . Though I think most would be laughing at her , and not with her .

Sarah showed herself to be kind of a drama queen, spent too much time fighting off the wolves, and trying to protect her family from media attacks, etc. She serves her faction better as a spokesperson than a candidate just now. I don't see how she could be an asset during this campaign.

I agree, she would not help anyone's campaign after the attack of the "wolves in the media" as you put it.
What was never reported was her record as Governor of Alaska. She turned the state around and all the media ever focused on was the hyped up "Scandal" which went away right after the campaign was over.
Good call Blad...and on this one I am serious.

A lot of that I think was nerves. She was a relatively unseasoned politician and I think the national spotlight ramped her some. But there was a lot of "gotcha" played on her. That number that NPR did on her comment about Paul Revere "warning" the British was just sad.
And when it turned out that she was right, Paul Revere did indeed warn the British that if they did proceed they would be met by a few hundred muskets, well neither NPR nor the reporter nor any of the other liberal media would offer an apology.
I doubt you will ever see Obama treated like that.

I find the word "HATE" ironic, considering no one in the entire Republicans Party like Willard Mitt Romney ... but the "HATE" of President Obama is te only reason why he's the GOP Candidate. I mean, Republicans know that Mitt is openly lying to everyone's face and it's perfectly OK because it's exactly what Republicans want to hear ... even if it's a flat out LIE!
The Sugar High is now over ...
The results of Wednesday night's first presidential debate are in and it's official: Mitt Romney won round one. He was aggressive, he was decisive, he delivered. Of course he also lied through his teeth for most of the debate. Romney lied:
When he claimed that "pre-existing conditions are covered under my plan." They're not (http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/10/top-romney-adviser-states-will-have-to-cover-people-with-pre-existing-conditions-under-president-rom.php).
When he said that President Obama had "cut Medicare by $716 billion to pay for Obamacare." Obama didn't (http://factcheck.org/2012/09/romneys-stump-speech/).
When he denied proposing a $5 trillion tax cut. He did (http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/debates/presidential/2012-10-03#sha=b84167e95).
When he said President Obama had "added almost as much to the federal debt as all the prior presidents combined." Not even close (http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/debates/presidential/2012-10-03#sha=21002741b).
When he resurrected "death panels." That was called (http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/fact-checking-the-presidential-debate-20121003) "one of the biggest whoppers of the night."
When he stated that half the green energy companies given stimulus funds had failed. Only (http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/debates/presidential/2012-10-03#sha=d60e41bde) if three out of nearly three dozen is half.
Stay tuned. These just scratch the surface.

You didn't ask how we feel about her personally. She has been terminally assasinated by the left wing media who only supports women in politics if they are leftists. And BTW did you notice they did the same to the Herminator? Yep, they only support blacks in politics who are down on the plantation too.
Personally, I agree with Chris's post that followed yours.

I still know nitwits who insist Gov. Palin said she could see Russia from her back yard. And I know people who still swoon at the fictional President's qualifications who insist Gov. Palin was unqualified. I think the media destroyed the woman and I'm sure they're proud of themselves.
Of course, they hated Gov. Palin because she's a woman. Misogynists like Bill Maher couldn't imagine her as a VP but they think VP Joe Biden is just fine. Well, he's clean and talks good. Okay, he's clean.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2037211/Sarah-Palin-took-cocaine-affairs-Glen-Rice-husbands-business-partner.html
Sarah Palin snorted cocaine off a 55 gallon oil drum while snowmobiling with friends and had illicit affairs with a top NBA star and one of her husband's business partners, a new book sensationally claims.
The author writes that after college Mrs Palin developed a 'fetish' for black men.
She allegedly had a tryst with basketball star Glen Rice in her younger sister Molly's University of Alaska dorm room, while she was dating Todd and just nine months before the couple were married.

My response would be, she's a political figure and she fair game and so is her past.
The last I checked, Mechelle Obama and her children never ran for any public office, but is always fair game on this Forum.

That would have been a very unwise move. The media wouldn't give her one inch of respect were she on the ticket and again it would divert attention away from Obama's failures. With Ryan they don't have the ammo to try to destroy him...yet, but rest assured they are digging and the day of the debate with him and Biden there will be something the media will report...a distortion of course, but enough to attempt to throw him off his game.

she has things to say but not many of them benifit or inform the world of government function.

Can you be more specific?
Keep in mind the question is would she help or harm Romney were she to run as VP. So we can discount liberals ever voting for Romney either way. SO the question is would she rally libertarians and independents to Romney's side? In terms of respect then, disrespecting a liberal or two, how would that do harm here?

At least on topic. One, can you be more specific, an example perhaps? Two, same as with cigar, if what you say is true would that help or harm Romney if she said those things running as his VP? IOW, would it rally libertarians and independents.
