Just for fun: Microsoft has announced their intention to (relatively) soon launch a new game system codenamed Project Scorpio. What do you guess the actual name will be?

How about "why box"?

Personally, I'm going with Xbox Pro based on their trend of tacking "pro" on the end of everything: Windows Pro, Office Pro, Surface Pro. It fits with their naming scheme.

Xbox Pro, when given that list.

I don't know why they can't just number the damned things like every other fucking technology company. Then again, Windows just skipped from 8/8.1 to 10. Figures.

10 sounds more complete than 9 or 8.2, @Adelaide (http://thepoliticalforums.com/member.php?u=473). Ya gotta bear in mind the mentality here:

In the spectrum of game console makers, Sony is known for being the more consumer-oriented company, which is why they usually win in terms of market share. Their naming system logically matches: it's simple, straightforward, and easy to keep track of. They just number their systems.

Nintendo has a reputation for being the quirky oddball that goes their own way focuses on appealing to some combination of their own distinctive fan base and casual gamers rather than the cultural mainstream of the gaming market. They don't really have a naming system per se (or at least not one that every lasts). They're more creative in their naming (usually).

Microsoft, on the other hand, has the reputation for being on the elitist side, focused on appealing to wealthier people. Their naming system, accordingly, so far has revolved around "sounding cool" and using numbers that allude to some form or other of perfection. I tried to follow that attitude with my offerings.
